Video downloader replacement for DownloadHelper?

I've been using the DownloadHelper Firefox Add-On for many years now in order to download videos from a few porn video sites. It's worked great until a few days ago when it suddenly quit working. (I discovered through a Google search that it is a widespread problem.)

Anyway, I updated the DownloadHelper to the latest version only to find that it sucks big time. It doesn't download anymore. It takes screen shots and video capture from the screen itself, but it won't download the file.

I haven't been able to find a downloader that works. Any recommendations? (I have the latest version of Firefox.)
 
It may just be a problem with the current version...

Is there a way to find an older version and see if that still works?
 
It's not just my problem. It is across the board. Many, many people are annoyed at the developer changing direction in midstream and changing the entire program. It doesn't download anymore. It simply takes screenshots and make them into a very poor video file which resembles a bad cam show.

My old version was of the 4 series. The program changed with the beginning of the 5 series. Version 4+ is not compatible with Firefox anymore. I tried all versions of the 5 series. None of them worked like the old versions. Installing the 4 series again simply doesn't work. Most of the download helper programs now are made for downloading from YouTube. I haven't found one which downloads videos from porn sites. I was hoping someone would know of one.
 
I have a Mac and use savefrom.net. Works every time.
 
^ Unfortunately, the links go to the webpage and not the video embedded in it. Video can't be found.
 
I was using Freemake Video Downloader, but it quit working on most sites, so I tried Video Downloader Professional, and am having better results so far on most sites. I use Chrome though if that makes a difference.

I, too, have Freemake installed. It works well on YouTube, but it didn't work on the sites I wanted. The Professional version works.
 
Well, it worked once. It downloaded a video last night but, on the same website (GayForIt) and even the same video, it's not working now. Works on YouTube, though.
 
UPDATE: Must have been a bad day. It's been working for 2 days now.

The latest version of VDH works for me. Download is possible up to 720p, for more you need to pay.
