The mom says she's always known he was gay, but then says he's choosing to be gay because she believes in "the word of God" wow.

This is disturbing and infuriating, I'm so angry. For any young gays lurking here and feeling alone I just hope you know that you are special and perfect the way you are, don't ever give up hope and always stay strong.

What a terrible situation. The truly sad thing is that he is fighting a losing battle, because his family are both proudly and willingly ignorant, and the "tolerance" they profess towards their gay "friends" is nothing more than fear of being publicly exposed as the bigots they are. Thus, this poor boy has been left to bear the brunt of their hypocrisy and badly concealed prejudices. God has nothing to do with this, because there are Christian people who are actually accepting of homosexuality. Simply put, these people are vile pigs and, if they weren't condemning homosexuality, they'd be looking for ways to justify the inferiority of black people, how all women are whores or how Jews are conspiring to take over civilization with the Illuminati, or whatever it is they need to believe in order to convince themselves that they are above others and have a right to denigrate, mistreat and discriminate against them.

In short, being ignorant because you never had a chance to learn and understand is sad, but comprehensible. Being willfully ignorant and dishonestly hiding behind absurd sophisms and flimsy excuses in order to justify your nastiness (the proverbial "I have gay/black/whatever friends and I love them, but they are shit nonetheless"), is just despicable.

I hope this guy is helped and loved by someone, because the trauma of being treated so evilly by those who are supposed to love him will leave deep scars. To be honest, I cannot imagine how a family would treat one of their members (what's worse, someone they claim to "love"), so unwell. Can you imagine how they would treat strangers if they could? Vile, disgusting beasts.
 
This poor kid needs to leave them behind and never look back. Just listening to his family made me sick. Bible thumping bigots.
