Five years and hundreds of billions of dollars late the Bushies are waking up to reality and appear ready to "cut and run" from "stay the course". Going to be fun to see how Rush and Sean and their ilk make the shift to follow Bush to "phased withdrawal" or whatever euphenism they annoint their own ver of "cut and run" with. One minute it's Democratic defeatism and next minuite it's a brilliant new way to win the war on terror.
Will the Dems take over the House? I've spent too many election nights since 1968 hoping for an election night miracle to believe this one till I see it unfolding. That said: "yes" on House and "no" on Senate but certainly no veto-proof majority so two years of loggerheads. Bush may read the tea leaves and decide to sign some bills but nothing major's going to be undone. More changes will likely come from the White House itself - realizing that Iraq's been a screw up and to salvage anything of a legacy they have to show some willingness to play by some new rules - stop the kowtowing to the Corporations and pay some attention - for real - to working men and women.
