Its probably simple but I am technically useless
Steve

Either right-click (hold ctrl key and click if you don't have a second mouse button) on the desktop and select Change Desktop Background from the list. The Desktop & Screensaver Preference pane should appear. You can then drag the picture you want to use as wallpaper to the image well.

thnx mr, can get the pic i want up but for some reason even tho i rotated it and saved changes before i did it, the screen will only show the original pic.....frustrating!

try going through your "system preference" on your dock and then when that opens, click on "desktop and screen saver" and make sure you click on the "desktop" tab... make sure you remember where you had saved your photo/file... then choose that photo... and then you have the option also to "stretch to fill screen/fit screen/fit file/tile/center" -- that should work!

have tried all that, saved the pic(rotated) on my desktop, when i click on it it poens as it should, but when I try to make it the wallpaper, it reverts to the original ie on its side?????????

Open and adjust it in Preview, then save it to you pictures folder. Or adjust it in iPhoto, then drag it to the pictures folder. Then you should be able to apply it as background under System Preferences.

But make sure you trash the original or name it something else.

Open it with some non-Apple software and rotate it then save it. it should work then. (paint.net is a good free program although I'm not sure it's available for Mac))
