Hi, basically I've been working out a while, but I don't see the results, as you can see in the photo my belly and love handles is the biggest problem... It's due to weight loss and weight gain multiple times few years ago... Does anyone have great suggestions on great workouts especially for these areas? Is that area the only one I should work on?

Does your gym have personal trainers? Can you afford at least a few visits with one who could set you up with an exercise program for your particular issues?

We get a lot of posts frequently where members are asking about a particular body part. One of the reasons that we often ask for a picture is that it's a lot easier for us to be more objective about what we see.

You didn't post a side shot and it's difficult to really gauge the proportions when your arms are raised. Based upon this picture, I'd recommend that you focus on your chest back and legs. Your midsection looks like a healthy person- we're supposed to have a bit of fat there and you have what appears to be a narrow waist and firm abs.

Sometimes the trick is not just to work out the abs- it's more about proportions. If you build up the areas above your waist (back and chest) and below the waist (hips and thighs), you'll accentuate your already-narrow waist and give more of a V-taper silhouette.

You have an attractive body now, so no need for drastic diet change. I suggest you cut down on fat, like pizza and cheeseburgers, and do some cardio exercise every day. In the gym, you might look for a workout partner. It is more enjoyable, and it helps you to discipline yourself to workout regularly, and more focused.

In working out with weights, try to continue every set until failure, i.e. you cannot do another. The last rep that you cannot do is the one that stimulates growth. Also, work for the the "burn", which indicates that your arteries and veins can not bring enough oxygen or carry away the lactic acid fast enough. That is what stimulates you body to grow larger blood vessels. You cannot have bigger muscles without a bigger blood supply.

Abs are made in the kitchen.

100% true. Focus on diet and weight training making sure to hit all the muscle groups. When one builds muscle, the body burns more fat, even when the body is at rest. The muscles need the energy and will continue to burn calories, even when you are not working out. I lift weights, but also like to do pull ups and push ups, lots of them.

You need a comprehensive full body workout and diet routine from your state. Just going to the gym with a personal trainer is gonna be useless and "spot training" is a myth unless you wanna just add some bulk to your arms or legs. You want abs? Then you need to be in or close to single digit body fat percentages. Crunches alone aren't gonna get you there.

If you wanna go to the gym, get the book "Body For Life" by Bill Phillips. It is a full workout and diet plan as well as the training behind the system. It is more about just workouts...it is about the why as well. I was in the best shape of my life on that system...and best part is that it is just a book to buy.

If you wanna stay outta the gym...P90X is one of the best programs to get your but in shape.
