Just read this:

Titan Shuts Down Online Pirates

In case you were thinking about illegally downloading pirated movies—think twice!

Titan has just busted a file sharing ring where 22 people were trafficking in illegally copied gay porn films.

Those of us in the porn industry know that Titan has always been ultra-humorless about copyright infringement, and is likely the most aggressive pursuer of those who illegally post or share their material. Apparently not aware of this, the defendant in the case, Gilbert Gonzales of Desert Hot Springs, CA, taunted Titan on the Internet, daring the company to find him and shut him down.

So guess what happened... they did!

Titan has a warning for would-be infringers, "you can run, but you cannot hide... People need to realize that nothing they do online is anonymous. Every single posting, upload, download or page view is tracked and recorded, and can eventually be traced back to the individual."

As a result Gay Guy Gap blog is no more (although I don't know if the owner had actually posted any Titan content I think he was just worried about the risk).

I can certainly understand Titan's position, and point of view. Sharing videos online cuts into profits and is stealing someone's "art". .....On the other hand, sharing clips and even whole scenes can be FREE advertising. I know for a fact that I have been introduced to many paysites and dvd's (and bought, or became a member) online. Xtube has introduced me to porn that I would not have known about otherwise. So has JUB, introduced me to porn sites (and perfomers) I would have not known about. Anywhoo, just me 2 cents.

Titan is the WORSE studio out there... The WILL hunt you down.

I used to do a lot of Usenet Up/Downloading of gay porn, I mean waaayyyyy back when. I wont mention the nic I used but if I did some of you would 'know' it. So long ago we were using 33K modems and splitting files into 325kb parts with mastersplitter :) Anyone remember those days?

Back on point.

Titan contacted the 3rd party usenet provider I was using and wanted to get my Info. They wouldnt give it to Titan unless they were court ordered to but by then they would have erased their database which they did every 10 days or so.

Long story short... I quit uploading Titan's stuff.

The whole pirating/sharing phenomenon is something I really don't get. If too many people start getting this stuff for free, producers aren't going to make any $$$ and they'll stop making them: no porn for anyone. I don't know why any of us who actually pony up occasionally would want to let someone freeload off of us, either. just my 2 cents

I don't understand how people can uphold Titan as the Titan or cream-of-the-crop gay porn company that it is trying to be. I think Colt and Hot HouseEnt have far better products.

I don't see the issue here... you have a company trying to protect its assets against something illegal...

I mean seriously ...pirating is nothing more than stealing and last time I checked theft was indeed illegal...

And before any of you ask ...No I do NOT download illegally... I buy everything through ITunes song wise and as for videos, I belong (as in pay for) some really great sites that have great videos.

I personally think every company should crackdown a bit more... seriously you wanna be a thief don't get mad when the people you're stealing from come knocking at your door.
