My favourite lube is Swiss Navy. Water based for toys and anal preparation, silicone for fucking. It's long lasting, super slick and just the right consistency.

When I was younger and "testing the waters," I thought olive oil/vegetable oil was perfectly fine. Currently, I really like One Oasis Silk; it's a hybrid lube, but phenomenal. On the other hand, I learned about J-Lube through an anal health book, and though it's not as slick, it's a great money-saver.

Yes that works, years ago we only used spit and vasiline, now there are so many good lubes on the market.

My French lover -who is much more a bottom than I am- prefers water-based Swiss Navy. He doesn't like silicone-based lubes as they don't clean out as easily.

He's an accomplished bottom and knows exactly what he's doing.

I often struggle as a top.

I find that the water-based lube in sauna's and cruiseclubs creating almost insurmountable friction with condoms makes the usually safe sex I have with other guys almost impossible.

Silicone-based, combined with my own condoms helps there, but it creates slippery puddles.

Last time I bought my lube at the specialized condomshop here they told me all lubes worked with all condooms there.

I agree silicone lubes take some effort to clean afterward. I've found that a minimal amount of it is effective and doesn't get everywhere. Have you tried using just enough to coat your shaft? I find a little bit goes a long way. For me, it's generally been water-based for toys and preparation, silicone for fucking. Swiss Navy all the way. I'll always bring my own lube rather than rely on whatever is on offer.
