What are some medical problems with anal?..

How common is an internal injury like a rupture or anal sphincter damage? Is there such thing as anal muscle getting lose or weak over time or from rough sex? What's the longest that your ass can remain "lose" after sex?

Internal perforation is extremely rare (unless you use a ridiculously sized Dildo), almost unheard of in ano-penile penetration (bum sex).

The anal sphincter is extremely tensile - it can withstand an incredible amount of force. Again, unless you use a Dildo that resembled some sort of traffic cone, it would be fine.

Since bacteria is always present in our systems what are the most likely bacterial infections that occur or most "easily" expected?

A ischio-rectal abscess would be the worst outcome - a small tear in the lining of the rectum could become colonised with bacteria from your GI Tract and form an abscess. If you had one of these, you'd soon know about it. As long as you use a liberal portion of lube and go gently at first, you'll be ok.

Don't forgot your condom!!

^ what about the stories that you always hear from one source or another that anal sex is one factor in getting hemorrhoids? The one time you read that it's only a myth, the other time you read again that it's not the cause but "beneficial"?

I doubt that anal sex is a factor in hemorrhoids.... those are caused by pressure from the inside going out.... not from something going in to the anus.
It could be that having frequent anal sex using oil based lubricants (on the part of the guy being fucked) causes frequent bowl movements then hemorrhiods could eventually become a problem. But hemorrhiods take many years to develop so I doubt any anal sex would cause that to happen unelss it took place over many, many years.... and the constant use of lubes.

I echo what BenF46 said. After seeing what is done to an anesthetized patient undergoing colorectal procedures, I have no doubt that the anus and rectum can accommodate just about anything. A well-lubed penis is not going to do any damage and it is like a drop in a bucket, to use an apt metaphor.

The problems that I have seen over the years were from extreme situations. Probably the worst thing that I have seen was a perianal abcess but this was as much from poor hygeine as it was from the extremely large foreign objects that the patient was putting up his ass.

The curious thing is that the colon is swimming in bacteria- mostly gram negative rods. There are more bacteria in your colon than there are cells in your body. So, bacterial infections of the colon from introduced bacteria are rare although it is possible to get STIs such as gonorrhea or syphilis- primarily of the anal and rectal cavities.

However, the normal flora of the gut can cause severe illness if they get into open wounds or into the bloodstream, so good anal hygiene is a must.

Oh, and no sharp, pointy or breakable things up your bum. A perforated colon is not something you ever want to have. Ever.

and as for prolapsed rectums, there are properly conducted medical studies that have not found anal sex to be a cause of prolapse or faecal incontinence. Again, the proviso is for well lubed anal sex, not rough fucking and fisting and massive dildos.

There are several topics that rank with religion on gay forums as incendiary- enemas are one of those topics.

I agree with most of what's in the sticky on this topic. Enemas are not needed for anal hygeine.

The most important thing in anal hygeiene is water and soap. There's no need to put either the water or the soap in your ass- for most people, a shower, a washcloth and a firm hand on the exterior of the anal cleft are sufficient to prep for anal sex.

For most people, a diet with fiber, avoiding big meals before anal sex and emptying the rectum by taking a dump before sex is all that is needed.

On the other hand, there are guys who cannot relax and let go for fear that shit is going to come out of their ass during anal sex. If it's that big a deal for them, then a gentle rinse with a handheld shower head or an enema is not the end of the world.
