What Are You Reading?

Oriental Medicine
(An Illustrated Guide to the Asian Arts of Healing)

Jan Van Alphen and Anthony Aris, General Editors

"get better" care package from nerdy-ass boyfriend consisted of a large stuffed turtle, Final Fantasy XI, and George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones. So guess what I'm reading.

I'm currently reading "Perfect Match", by Jodi Picoult. It's about an assistant district attorney whose young son is sexually abused. Knowing how the system works, she takes matters in her own hands and offs the suspect during his trial (this is not a spoiler, btw). The book explores how the abuse and the mother's murder trial affects the family and friends. Picoult is a brilliant writer, I've read several of her books and they're all captivating - I'd guess her most known work is 'My Sister's Keeper'.

Next on my reading list is 'Good Omens' by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
.

great choice! Good Omens is one of the funniest books i've read in a long time.

I just picked up Michael Ian Black's "My Custom Van...and 50 other mind-blowing essays that will blow your mind all over your face", David Sedaris' "When You Are Engulfed In Flames" and Josh Kilmer-Purcell "Candy Everybody Wants"

looking forward to reading them!

Anne Rice's "Tale of the Body Thief." This is my second go-round for the Vampire Chronicles.

i read The Road by Cormac McCarthy i like 2 days. it was brilliant, now i see why everyone has put it on the best of lists.

Game of Thrones: Fantastic book. I'm hunting for the second one in the series.

Just read the play The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein. I love that woman's plays so much. Madeline Kahn won a Tony for her performance as Dr. Gorgeous Tietelbaum in the nineties and you can just hear her voice saying the lines as you read...it's great.

I just finished reading Michael Chabon's "The Yiddish Policeman's Union."

Next up is "The Line of Beauty" by Alan Hollinghurst. This book was also made into a BBC mini-series on DVD.
