@musclelucca Aside from Falcon and
Raging Stallion, may we know what are your other subscriptions? Been reading comments online from folks saying they'd never pay for adult entertainment because of all the free stuff. That's alright, but it's a good feeling knowing we help the industry survive & strive.
Thanks for asking Arckangel - happy to share my thoughts, though this might get a bit longer
I absolutely agree that the industry needs to be supported, as I have always been a fan of high quality gay porn. I have heard many times that the amateur aspect of OF and similar sites are driving many to these sites, but I still do love a good, well made studio porn movie. And to be honest, there was a "Golden Time" of these a few years back, and recently the Falcon/HH/RS group is the one delivering the most to my liking.
So when it comes to paid subscription, I do have a grouping I would like to share - maybe it is of interest.
1. Ongoing, recurring subscription
Here Falcon is currently my only major studio subscription that runs all the time. Reason is the quality, updates, new productions, selection of different genres, as well as the availability of 90s/2000s classics and vintage. I like to browse sometimes due to current interests or performer and I do like the download-to-own possibility for my favorite scenes. I also think the site is easy to browse, well layed out and gives me a lot of what I like.
2. Subscription "On Demand"
There are a bunch of sites I more or less regularly resubscribe in an on-and-off matter. Reason being either that updates are too seldom, or to less for my taste to have an ongoing subscription. So I do bookmark trailers (e.g. from their preview site or trailer sites like mansurfer) and once I have reached a certain amount or a "big bang" movie I like to have, I subscribe for a certain amount of time. Important for me is a download-to-own option in order to watch once subscription is pausing. Some of these include:
3. Subscriptions I had, but will not do again
There are some sites I was subscribed to in the past from the two categories above that I would not subscribe to anymore. Reasons are various, so I have them mention next to them:
- Lucas Entertainment: I loved Lucas being "different" from main stream in the past and enjoyed many of the movies a few years back. However in the last couple of years I recognized that the scenes are more and more the same - same models, same setup, same action. Every once in a while there is however a new model, movie or scene that sticks out. For that it is great that you can be a "free member" and download per scene through buying credits.
- Men.com: Oh where do I start...I know you have a subscription, but for me it is not the same as some years back. I loved the themed movies with multiple scenes and to this day some of the hottest and highest quality porn has come from this studio (from director Alter Sin especially). Unfortunately for me, I am not a fan of the overly comical approach Men.com has chosen since quite some time. The fake cum, overacting and over-the-top scripts just don't work for me - as well as women suddenly interrupting the action. What I also didn't like was the monthly subscription fee and then additionally paying a small amount extra for downloading a scene - my credit card would often decline when too many small amounts were requested in short time...so for now, I have no intention to resubscribe until the studio is doing a major change in content.
- Corbin Fisher and Sean Cody: I was a subscriber on both sites on and off for a few years, but haven't subscribed for quite some time. In the beginning I really liked the "curios straight college dude" setup of both sites and there were many performers I loved for looks and their sexual explorations - there are surely too many to mention. Sadly many of these classic performers and their scenes disappeared from the sites and the initial charm of the studios faded with more-of-the-same content and giving up on the former main identity: getting sexy young dudes to perform for money - and later on liking it.
- There are surely some more I have tried and never subscribed to again, but these above were my main ones
4. Subscriptions I had, but the sites are gone, have changed or studio closed
Sadly, sometimes beloved studios or sites close down though I have loved and enjoyed the content. This leads to no new content or only classics to be available if at all. I had subscribed to those, but they all changed:
- Titan: For me this was the perfect mix of Falcon and Raging Stallion approaches: Great quality, studs and young hunks, storylines and great sex. Unfortunately Titan did not survive as a studio, but many many scenes still are some of my all time favorites. It's a pity that the had to close down and have not been producing for many years. Hence also the site gives you "only" what remains of the studio. However, quality of downloads is superb for a good amount if the content and there's a lot of great porn!
- Colt: Same as above, for me a mix of HotHouse and Raging Stallion. Enjoyed the site very much. Downloads and content still available and very good, but no updates anymore. Jeez, I could already mention three or four scenes that will forever be "classics" for me...
- Jetset: Along with Pacific Sun one of the other studios that did not survive and were in the category of Falcon, Rascal and alike. A vast variety of genres, young guys and hunks, nice stories and great sex from the early 2000s. Unfortunately also vanished, site also not recommended (though still available)...but scenes and movies are available to be bought at usual sites such as gayhotmovies or gamelink
- Last but not least, C1R: Consisting of many sub studios such as Rascal, AllWorlds, Catalina and so on, the former site was a true treasure of lovers for any kind of porn from the studio group. Back then I loved the availability of everything you could imagine - from classics to the golden times of director Chi Chic LaRue and more. Site setup reminded me a lot of Falcon/HH today. At one point the site closed down, moved to gamelink somehow (which is more of a digital download store with an immense catalogue of gay porn from everywhere), and currently also has a presence as cauk.com - but the site is not working well and again, no new content to be expected.
Additionally I do have some subscriptions on OF, JFF and Fansly - but due to the fact that you need to remain subscribed to view bought content I am heavily restricting who I subscribe to...I have been let down by many on these platform and only have a handful left that deliver quality and steady content to my liking.
