Amy Winehouse - there are still folks out there who think that she was nothing but a junkie. Her lyrics are pure poetry and the music is timeless:

Oceana - I love her. She has such great stuff, if you try to forget the house remix for Endless Summer:

Yakoto - this is pure new retro soul, 2 great albums so far, amazing voice, she kills it live, one of the bests, for me:

Dum Dum Girls:

London Grammar - they deserve more attention, young fresh music:

Black Kids - these guys are awesome. Just listen:

Dotan - this is the music you put on when you want to paint. All my last paintings have the soundtrack done by him.

I see your frustration with all those poll threads as an inspiration to start this thread.

I'll be looking forward to checking it out.

Oh God, yes!

Her last studio cd

Living like a runaway

Is fucking epic. The song "relentless" absolutely kills

She should be in the rock hall of fame right along side of Joan Jett. Litas guitar work rocks my world

Lissie
Say Lou Lou
John Martyn
Flunk
Emiliana Torrini
Beth Orton
The Outfield
Bic Runga
Kathleen Edwards
Lamb
Heather Nova
Joseph Arthur
Asgeir
Josh Rouse
Imogen Heap

CharlieMars, love Emiliana Torrini, Beth Orton, and Imogen Heap. Also fond of Bic Runga, Lamb and Heather Nova. This means I will have to delve deeper into the rest of your list.

I think Anais Mitchell is criminally underrated. Her Hadestown album is just so fantastic.

Also, Norweigan songstress, Susanne Sundfor's Ten Love Songs is one of my favourites from the past year. Not your straightforward pop and some great lyrics about doomed love. The central track is 10 mins worth of sweeping strings, church organ and Abbaesque disco chord changes. She's also singing about how she has barely noticed the 'cosmic war raging in the sky' because she's so sad about the heartless man who took off her dress. Bonkers yet it completely works.

Except Imogen Heap (which I´m not a fan of), I haven´t heard of any of those. I´ll have to check them out :D
