My bachelors of science degree is in business administation with a major in management and human resources (MHR) and an emphasis on small business management. I have taken a few classes since then but have not gone back for a masters. I don't really need it and I don't have the time to go back. My Mom still tells me that I should another degree. My neighbor just laughed when I told her that....she was like...your doing fine.... If I went back, it would be just for fun.

I have a B.A. in English Literature, which I obtained as a background for both teaching (which I'd like to do someday) and writing.

I didn't graduate, but I was going for a BA in English. If (when) I go back, I'll study graphic design.

If memory serves, since it was quite a while ago, I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications (with a minor in Psych.) ... a B.S. in "B.S"!! ..|

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz ;)

P.S.
I'm sure I've learned more than enough for a PhD, or several, since! #-o

I have a BA in Economics and an MBA (Master's in Business Administration).

BASc...mech eng. thinking of quitting the job and headin back for an MBA full time. engineering gets u nowhere

college is over rated...i have 2 friends w/ masters degrees (one in finance, the other in public administration) and neither of em can get jobs. Id rather run a lawn mowin biz gettin a nice tan n' work 8 mo makin double that guy stuck in his office cubicle 40 hrs/wk fighting for a window view. What good is a degree if no one will hire you? Screw college, start ur own biz, be ur own boss, and sleep in til 11am every day. hell yeah!!! (UU)

truly yours,

Admittedly, my day job while writing the novel is managing a business and a friend of mine has the same position with no degree..

I currently have an Associates Degree in Specialized Business -- Accounting. I'm currently attending school to get my B.S. in Business Administration-- Accounting with a Minor in Spanish. I want to eventually at least get my M.B.A., haven't decided anything past that yet.

Bachelor of Science in Education - English/Speech - I taught High School English for a while and then couldn't handle it anymore.

Master of Arts - Speech Communication

Currently pursuing an EdD in Educational Administration.

That said, I agree with an earlier comment that degrees don't necessarily mean much. This is the path that my life has taken. There are days when I think I would be very happy working as a clerk in the local bookstore instead of dealing with all of the rest of the bs that comes with being an administrator!

LOL

Statistically, people with college degrees do make more money. But of course, you can always find people that fall outside of the statistics. I live in an upper middle class neighborhood in California. I know that in the neighborhood that I live in, almost all of them have at least a Bachelors Degree. Man.y have more degrees than that. The whole thing also depends on what kind of lifestyle you want to live. Degrees do not guarantee a good paying job but it does increase your chances and opportunities than someone that does not have one. My landscaper had a landscaping degree and he designs and subcontracts yards, many over $100k each versus someone who mows lawns.

I have a B.S. in Business Administration. Since I work for a big corporation that will pay for it, I'm thinking of going for my MBA or a masters in Finance next year.

This has been one of the best discussions here.
Interesting at how the education levels are so high - and for those without formal educational degrees the thought process is still exceptional.
Wow - we all are going to make such wonderful old men at the nursing home.

As the Dean of my College said, while handing out our diplomas, "THIS, and 25cents (It was 1973!), will get you a cup of coffee anywhere in the World!" #-o :help: ](*,) ..|

BA Journalism & Communications. No desire to go for Masters. Everyone I know with a Masters degree either can't find a job or they have to hide the degree to get one because they are told they are "over-qualified". Basically that translates to "we ain't payin you big bucks".

I think a degree gives you an edge over someone who doesn't have one. However, I see more and more companies asking for "Degree OR equivalent work experience". The equivalent experience is usually defined as 2 years on the job for each year of college. Thus, if you have 8 years experience in the field, you are considered on an equal level with someone with a degree and no experience and often have the edge. Experience does matter.

i have a B.S. in Computer Science, and after i got that i got a B.A. in Graphic Design and another B.A. in PC Game Art and Design.

It seems a couple people in engineering are going towards an MBA... I'm still thinking about it myself. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and am currently seeking an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering.

I have a question for all the MBA's here though, is it important to work first before getting an MBA? Right now I have zero work experience (save for research work)... will I be rejected for admission because of this?
