I love watching old eps. of Murder, She Wrote but I hate it when they show eps. that do NOT feature Angela Lansbury but other "detective".

LOL.......I was just thinking the same thing! I just bought season 6 and I've been watching it for the past few days and noticed that there are quite a few episodes without her in it! I just skipped right over those cuz they don't interest me at all. She needs to be IN the show, not just telling the story!

Isn't it kind of odd that wherever she goes, someone ends up dead?

you gotta watch it in italian

angela lansbury so rocks in italian

how the hell did she keep any friends?Almost always her friend was the victim or the killer. She's like a walking grimp reaper in really bad clothes

She is not on the top of my list to invite to a dinner party.
The series should be called, 'Murder? She's there!'

PS

Or even better... 'If she is there, a murder will happen'.

But that is a tad too long for a TV show title, huh?

The "other" detective was played by Jerry Orbach. His episodes were an extended pilot for a spin-off series for his character, which was picked-up, but was quickly cancelled. He was a great Broadway star, a singer and hoofer. (I saw him in a revival of 42nd Street.) He starred in Law and Order until his death a few years ago. (He and Angela Lansbury were close friends.)

Maybe that's why they had to invent another character...she was out of friends and no one would invite her out anymore.

Did anyone watch "24" two weeks ago, when [SPOILER!] Sec Heller warned Jack away from Audrey cuz "everyone you know, one way or another, ends up dead"? Jack Bauer has NOTHING on Jessica Fletcher ;)

I love the way her character sticky beaks into everything , i love that show

I just love that show. I love how a simple little detail can trigger her memory and then solve the case right away.

I grew to hate the show for a couple reasons. One, my mother has the worst memory of anyone in the world. But she loves the show. So we'd have to watch every friggin' repeat, even though all of us remember who done it (and how), while she tried to figure it out. Again.

And secondly, come on, how many murders do murder writers "stumble across"? My friend just called the show "The Mass Murderer Show". He wrote a hypothetical last episode where she invites Sheriff Potter (not Harry) to tea, and explains that she in fact killed them all off, knowing full well she could manipulate him into thinking it was whoever she chose. Then she'd reveal that she poisoned the tea, and the show would end with them dying together.

I don't remember but has she ever been hurt by one of the bad guys?

There was a "Murder She Wrote" episode where Jessica Fletcher introduces her new novel and the episode becomes the novel she wrote. It was about a college student who solves a murder...

There was also a "non - Jessica" episode which she introduced, where a young amateur sleuth and his cop father solve a murder on a cruise ship and encounter a elderly mystery writer....it sounded like an unused script for the 1970's Ellery Queen mystery TV show (that starred Jim Hutton)

Finally, I remember a number of episodes featuring a ex-con who now worked as an insurance investigator. Jerry Orbach did not play that character, I can't remember the actor's name. But he was in several "non-Jessica" episodes as well as some episodes where he teamed up with Jessica Fletcher.

I used to like her semi-regular sidekicks, like William Windom, Jerry Orbach and Ron Masak. Masak was actually hot when he was a little younger. I remember him in a sex scene in some B-movie. Wish I could remember the title...
