  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What is something that is really popular now, but in 5 years everyone will look back on and be embarrassed by?

I would tell any child of mine who really wanted a tattoo that he/she/ze could get as many tattoos as ze liked (within reason), as long as they are temporary. As long as the tattoo is temporary, you can always change your mind about it.
I don't agree with the "you can always change your mind" philosophy. It leads to cultures with no commitment. Young people and some older ones need to learn that decisions have forever consequences. In many cases that is a good thing, and well to learn it.

It seems Me-again Markle is finally being seen with the embarrassment that befits her. Hopefully in 5 years nobody will remember who she was.

I agree that young people need to learn the consequences of actions, decisions, and choices, but tattoo disfigurement is not the best way to teach that lesson. That would be punitive. The idea is to give them time to know themselves as adults, not mar them for folly. That's a milder version of allowing them to not wear seatbelts.
