After several generations, many people assimilate into the large national culture, which is a true culture and ethnicity of its own. Usually there is marriage with people from other national origins. Sure, they remember where their family originated, but soon lose most of the culture of their origin. There is a large American culture which is a true ethnicity, and the same is true of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and the countries of Latin America.
In the US there is no word for the assimilated Americans. Partly because the liberals hate the idea of assimilation and an assimilated ethnicity, preferring a fractured multicultural society. They insist that every one becoming a citizen or everyone over the border is an
"American" leaving no word for those in the assimilated ethnicity. They prefer that everyone be some other ethnicity: Irish, German, etc, no matter how long they have been in the US. The liberal rules of the forum equate culture with race and virtually prohibit the discussion of culture.
I am mostly English on both sides, 1/4 Irish, with some Dutch, a little German and <1% Native American DNA.

The only thing that makes the rest of us appear s.t.u.p.i.d (see #8) is trying to argue something with you. That's like trying to argue with a kangaroo.

It seems to me that the people you are quoting have more of an idea what 'nationality' means than you do. Did you ever stop to think that they might be wondering which country you live in and not the colour of your skin?

EDIT: By the way, you you spell it 's.t.u.p.i.d', you are still calling him 'stupid'.
