There are signs of entropy at work in the world.

Of course, there always are, but it is also true that we enter epochs in which chaos is more dominant than stability.

Several areas seem to be threatening a widening gyre: the Russian invasion, N. Korea's sabre rattling, Iran's riots, Russia's riots, the looming 2024 American pre-contested election, the Ireland Brexit problem, the supply chain crisis, the global inflation spike, the droughts and wildfires and floods associated with global warming, and the increasing global south emigration.

Is that just a list of headlines, or do they point at a period of increased instability that is some epoch of the dire, a new meaning of the Age of Aquarius?

Dang! I misspelled the title.

AUGURER!

Apologies for the blunder.

There's always something. Go back to the 1970s and you'd have the Cold War, the Americans in Vietnam, the Russians in Afghanistan, Watergate, the Iranian revolution, high inflation (it wasn't a "cost of living crisis" then), trade union militancy, the IRA, Idi Amin in Uganda, apartheid and who knows what other horrors. Nothing really changes.

I ask because I do remember the 60's being an era of greater instability. The decades since have not been anywhere near as broadly turbulent. I'm wondering if we are going from trough to crest again in that long sine wave.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Same shit...different day.

You mean you are TRULY discovering them NOW.
No, rather, your cluelessness is feeling TRULY impotent NOW.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

we seem to be destined to walk in our grasnparents' shoes?

Except today...there may be an unaticipated shift because of a fuck-up of a narcissistic sociopath in rUzZia...we'll see.
