Keep in mind that we're about 2 episodes behind the US here in England...

The one last night was #20 (1am to 2am), and simply had to be the worst episode of 24 yet made.

This whole series has been like someone making a bad parody of the show.

Jack Bauer just goes around torturing people and shouting "where is the [plot device]?" in people's faces. This is Emmy-worthy acting? He's the most one-dimensional character on television (like Horatio Caine without the humour).

Most of the storylines they've had this season are just retreads from earlier seasons: someone sleeping with a traitor (season 1), overthrowing the president (season 2), faulty evidence leading to war with another country (season 2), nuke going off in LA (season 2) untrustworthy vice president (season 2), someone close to Jack being kidnapped (season 1), a C.T.U. mole (every season).

Oh yeah, and Jack's dad and brother we're the criminal masterminds behind most of the show's terrorist plots... please!

If the writers/producers dont seriously overhaul the show next season, I can see its recently dwindling audience getting smaller.

Hate to tell you this, but, although it's still just about worth watching, the season doesn't get any better.

There are even reports that the writers ran out of steam on one the main plot lines so, a few episodes from the end of the season in the US, it feels after-party-ish.

I kinda watch it out of loyalty and it still has its moments, but I agree with you that it's got very repetitious. And it sometimes isn't just only improbable, which is the name of the game, but plain stupid.

Must agree...I'm watching to find out what happens but not with the same "Oh 24's on!" enthusiasm I once had. There are one or two "whoa" moments coming up for you, but yeah, a parody of 24 is how I'd describe it. When the one guy hacked off his own arm I pretty much gave up. And I roll my eyes a lot.

It's been going way downhill since Season 5. And I watch it for the same reason as spensed 2, out of loyalty. There are a few "wow" moments every once in a while, but it's not nearly as gripping as it used to be. I think it's because all of the characters we were attached to were killed off. The only people left from Season 1 are Jack and Kim, but Kim has been M.I.A. since last season. Think about it, when you start watching a show, you don't really start caring for the characters till late in the first season. Since 24's main characters die so frequently it's hard to care for the show.

i must say the past 2 eps, in my opinion, have been the best so far this season. ready for tonights and see if it continues on the good streak.

It is exactly what happened to the likes of Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest, etc.

When Jack was captured by the Chinese last year I thought sure they were going to do the "Manchurian Candidate". I'm glad they didn't do that.

I have to agree. I've been a fan since the first season but this year is basically a repeat of previous seasons and frankly it is getting downright tedious. I'm not giving up with 2 episodes to go but they sure as hell better come up with some ideas next season. It's like they're just doing stuff for the episode that worked before and that was exciting then but they're writing by the seat of their pants without a clue where the plot is going. What little story they had just fell apart. And they've really stretched the real-time concept to the limit. Nobody can get across downtown LA in 5 minutes like they do, especially after a nuke, unless they have the Starship Enterprise beaming them.

FYI the action in the two hour season finale in the US wasn't that bad, even though the soppier stuff came across as filler. So maybe there is some hope for next year.

That was a crappy cliffhanger...oops, no pun intended...for those of you who watched it will get what I mean. Don't want to ruin the ending for our UK brothers.

What does everyone think that next season will be about? Can't really do the whole nuclear threat again? I thought I read that they were doing it in a new city next season.

I started out watching it, but this season doesnt hold a candle to season's past... I am officially bored of this show.

We've only got 3 episodes left here...

CTU has just been infiltrated for the 31st time. Its nice to know that these people (who have let 2 nukes go off in LA in 6 years!) have offices that can be gotten into via a simple sewer grid. LMAO.

And I have to be honest, the stuff with Jack and Audrey is boring me to tears.

I agree and the Audrey stuff is even worse because she's supposed to be so traumatized that she can't communicate. Kinda nuts to let it drag out the way it does.

I've started to watch the first series, which is showing in the US on one of the cable/satellite channels and which I missed originally. The pace and the energy level is just so much quicker.

Anyway, even the latest stuff is worth watching through just about and the buzz is that the writers/producers have got the message and are promising changes and improvements.

Season 5 was quite good but this year has been a real faceplant. I suspect the show has officially jumped the shark. I can't see how it can recover, unless possibly it has all-new writers and not just new sets and cast.

One of those articles said future season will have past actors from earlier seasons coming back as different characters. That sounds more like sketch comedy.

Well, it finished here last night - absolute crap. The final 20 minutes were the dullest of the whole season.

However, what I've heard about season 7 is quite promising, so I'll see what happens next year.

This is the first season where I've stopped watching. 24 has been my favourite show for years, but it's now suffering from the rinse-and-repeat syndrome.

Maybe CSI copycat spinoffs will come? "24 New York" and "24 Miami".

I think I'm done watching this show. It feels like more of a chore than a pleasure to tune in every Monday. I think I'll try out Heroes instead.

Season Five was the best besides season 1. Season 6... Well, I just can't really get into it.
It seems like they're running out of idea. It's like I'm watching a compilation of Season 1 through season 5 minus Kim Bauer. I taped the whole season on my Hidef-DVR (I made sure I got the whole season in there first before I start watching) and I still have the season finale that I have to watch and I'm just in no hurry to finish that.

I kind of miss the old characters that got killed of the show like Nina Mayer, Tony and Michelle and they should bring Chase back even for eye candy...

I hope the next one is better than this one.
