Hey all. I am looking to start reading a new series of books, but I don't know what. I loved Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches series. I have now read all the Harry Potter books and also enjoyed Eragon & Eldest (can't wait for the next one...any idea when its coming out?) That should give you an idea of what I like. For some reason I enjoy reading series. More fun I guess.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

You might like the Night Watch trilogy by Sergei Lukyanenko (Night Watch, Day Watch, Twilight Watch).

Jim Butcher's Dresden files are a great read----each books has been better than the previous one.

Why not try a new genre? Have you read Great Expectations, which is my favorite?

You could try Pier Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series. Its a five book series (about 7 technically).
Great reading if you ask me. If you like that mix of magic and technology and religion.

have you tried the Earthsea series by Ursula le Guin or The Dark is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper? Both great series, in my opinion, if you enjoy magic themed books.
For horror I'd recommend anything by Christopher Fowler, he has a series of books with two detectives in, Bryant and May, that get into all sorts of adventures and troubles.

(1)Wilbur Smith: all of his early stuff about settlement of south africa great stories, his later is stuff is good too. (2) Vince Flynn - Mitch Rapp series - fast moving fighting terrorist 3) Lord of the rings (great) ( 3) James Patterson - Jester and almost anything else he has written (4) Ken Follett - Pillars of the Earth (one of my favorites) and almost anything else he has written (5)Ayn Rand - Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged. The list goes on. Books on tape are great too, especially if you have a long commute or the time at home. AND GUESS WHAT. tHEY ARE ALL FREE AT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. Reading allows you to go placess you've never been before. Take a trip and never leave the house Gary Jennings is also a standout. Don's be intimidated by big thick books, there is a reason. Thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am definately open to all sorts of genres. I have read anything from Dickens and Wilde to Rice and King. I have read most of KEn Folletts books...love them.

Does anyone know of a good fiction/novel about Jack the Ripper? Twisted, I know, but sounds like it'd be cool. I know there's a novel of "From Hell", but I read a portion of that and it's a bit over done.

Thanks again!!

Patricia Cornwell wrote a book about Jack the Ripper, but I think it's nonfiction. She's a mystery writer.

Since you are open to all genres check out the book: The Persian Boy. By Mary Renault.
It's availiable or can be ordered from any library.
The story is based on history, but is written as historical fiction.
Basic story is about a very handsome young man living in the Persia before Alexander the Great overcomes the country. Bagoas is the boy. His family farm was overriden by the Persian King and because of the amazing beauty of little Bagoas he is taken to the Court of Darius. He is made to become a eunich.
But it doesn't end there. The story continues to where Alexander and Bagoas meet. And the young man ends up following the Macedonian King throughout all his travels.
There may have been a prequel or sequel to this book, but I'm not sure. But I promise you that you will find an interesting and very well written story here. Mary Renault has done archaeology work in the area and has written some serious works along that line. But she is wel in here element in writing The Persian Boy.
Along with the travels and conquereing of Alexandar, we read about his love affair with his best friend Hesphastion.... and how Bagoas learns to love Alexander.
It is not a tough read.... but is very interesting. Not salacious at all, it is a fine work.
Let me know if you check it out. Please.

there is the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Cofler. ummm the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horrowitz. ummm The Average American Male by Chad Kultgen. i love all of them.

War And Peace-- no need of a sequel after that!!!
