  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What was your name supposed to be?

Sean for a boy or Juanita for a girl...I ended up being named with my grandfathers' middle names.

eric ws the other name my folks chose

If things had gone differently, I might be named Charles Alexander, which I think sounds utterly grand.

See, my father was adopted (from within the family) by my Grandparents when he was three; Grandmother wanted to rename him Charles, after her favorite brother-in-law, and Alexander, after her father. But Daddy was already accustomed to being called Bobby by then, so Grandmother decided not to change it after all, lest he become irreparably confused.

And so I get to be Robert Eugene, Jr. instead of Charles Alexander, Jr.

If I'd been a girl, I would have been named Suzette Marie, which my sister ended up with instead. In which case my sister would have been named Claire, after Mother's mother... unless she'd been a boy, in which case she'd be named Robert Eugene, Jr. And if we'd both been boys, she'd have been named LeRoy, after Mother's father. They had it all planned out.

My mom only picked out 2 names.. JEREMIAH for a boy & DELILAH for a girl.

So I got J ;)

My dad is XXXXXthe 3rd. He didn't want me to have that burden, so it was decided that Steven would be my name. I ended up with my maternal grandfather's name instead. My little brother got Steven as his middle name.
