Whats a good Las Vegas hotel....

We liked the Hard Rock when we went 5 or so years ago. It's just far enough off the strip to not be overly crowded. Can't tell ya rates, unfortunately it was a family vacation when I was 17.....

But it was nice, they have a sweet pool. Small casino if I remember, but they have a shuttle to the strip.

yeah - thats why I loved Hard Rock cause it was a smaller hotel and had a great pool. I don't gamble much so that wasn't a problem. Its been ten years since I was out there last and at that time Hard Rock had announced an expansion to come. I hope it didn't "wreck" the vibe it had going. I've stayed at most of them - Venetian, Mandalay, Bellagio, MGM, Excalibur, Paris, Orleans, Hard Rock, Hilton, Caesars, New York New York, Luxor, Monte Carlo, Mirage, Treasure Island, Reserve (off strip - it was cool). One word about Monte Carlo - the sun doesnt directly hit the pool area until about 2PM cause of blockage by buildings. I'm thinking of returning this spring.

>>>I am also planning on going to Vegas and was wondering what hotel has the best spa? (steamroom, sauna, etc.) with eye candy...

I was going to answer this until I saw those last three words. :)

Las Vegas is surprisingly...well, it's not gay-UNfriendly. It's clear to the world at large that my partner and I are gay, but nobody's ever given us any grief about it, and the hotels have always been totally gracious. There's just a dearth of activities and locations aimed at gays. And I don't mean full-on strip clubs or whatnot. There isn't even much in the way of gay clubs, period. The few times we've asked, the concierges and cab drivers have given us some blank looks. We really don't mind - there's tons to do in Vegas, and we never need any of it to be "gay specific" - but I thought I should point that out.

As for "which locker rooms have the hottest guys", I'm not very qualified to answer that. Mainly because I'm "one of those annoying old fat hairy guys who ruins it for everybody else". I like to work out and sit in the steam room and all that, and if I end up bringing down the curve by my presence, hey, sorry. :) In addition, I tend to be pretty focused on the matter at hand, and not pay much attention at all to the potential eye candy. (I know - I'm an embarrassment to my people.) I'm assuming the "hipper" hotels that cater to a younger crowd might increase your odds. I stayed at the Palms for a weekend, but I don't recall the workout room and locker room being anything special. The Wynn has a large pool/sauna/locker room area that's clothing-optional, and I was surprised how many younger guys were there. I assumed the Wynn catered more to the older affluent set myself. I might have just been there on a good day, though.
