When did you start and stop going to gay clubs? A naive question from someone who just came out

I went to the clubs only for six months while in college. I think I got it out of my system pretty quickly.

I've never been to a gay club. I don't have a particular interest to go either. I'd rather go to a sports bar, relax at home or just go walking somewhere. Loud music, lots of people in a small area and people seeking for hook-ups puts me off from it.

Well, you're only 24 so you've only missed out on the gay clubbing scene for 3 years, right? I don't think you should worry too much about your age in relation to the clubbing scene. I mean, you're still in your 20's and that's young, so surely you don't have nothing to worry about.

Mind you, up until now I'd only ever been to a straight club once and that was because it isn't really my kind of thing. But it's so hard as a gay man to find a guy, even if only for casual flirting (I know a club isn't the best place for a serious relationship anyway), that you become desperate because besides online dating it's one of the few avenues for us? So even though I'm more of a shy, stay-at-home kind of person, it's definitely something I want to try.

I know exactly what you mean by this.. I'm a stay-at-home kind of guy as well. Still, it is nice to get out and be among other gay people and wave the single flag so people know that you are out there and available. I definitely think you should go and give it a try - let your hair down :-)

I started at 16 and still going strong! I love dancing and I definitely don't go there to pick up guys, although it's a great place to meet new friends!!!
