When Straight Guy Talk Goes Gay

When my co-workers talk, it never fails. One of them leads into a conversation about an innuendo taken out of context, something "gay" they heard, saw or experienced with a friend. The peculiar thing is that others would join in with utmost attention. They'll laugh in disgust, then provide extensive graphic homoerotic detail. The topic would last a good 5-10 minutes before they change the subject. Some of it turns me on, but at the same time, ticks me off. I never chime in on these conversations but I'm always in ear range. However, when you talk to them separately, they'll play the straight card and say they're "not into that gay stuff." That's fine with me, but what gives?

if they know that you're gay, it could be that they're just trying to fuck with your head. i've never heard of str8 guys sittin around talking about anything even remotely homoerotic

It's a warehouse environment full of forklift operators (you can count the women workers on one hand). I don't suspect they know anything because I participate and act just as straight as they do, and I've never led anyone to believe otherwise. We all talk about sports/stats, T&A/getting laid, video games, one- upping or grossing out each other, but when it comes to gay banter it's really weird that they all find it entertaining.

I work with a lot of str8 guys also, but a couple are always asking what it is like to be gay and wanting me to go out and hang with them all the time. The main one is married and I have gone out with him and his wife a few times. I think they may be swingers, because they both flirt with me constantly!

i have a guy who isn't shy about flaunting his sexuality in office and surprisingly he finds himself being approached by some of the best looking men in office who just find the fella's number neway and end up giving him a buzz when alone...

str8 men sure turn me on.

this has been happening at my work place, There are a few people who have proven themselfs to be homophobic. In front and behind my back. And the last week i've been sitting in the breakroom with them, at a different table with my friends and i keep hearing them talk about the most gayiest stuff.

the other day they was talking about fucking a shemale, and trans sexuals. And high school locker rooms and showering in highshcool, and about one guy would always get a hardon, and one joked aobut " Hey buddy see what you like, point'em out " 2 of these guys are HOMOPHOBES, but yet are always talking about GAY subject matter you would expect to gay men talking about. SO i leaned over to my friend and said, Have you noticed how offten they talk about gay things ? and he said Yes. and i said i wounder why ? And he said maybe there scaired to be themselfs, and come out !

Now this was a STRAIGH co-worker/friend i asked this to , and that was his honest responce.

take away from this what you will. But i think as much as these homophobes joke about it, they really like it. and get off on the idea.

I've found that Guys will be Guys! I believe we are ALL wired to be Omni-Sexual! Human Males will "go after" just about Anything/Anyone, animate, or not!!

But, we're also taught to not EVER "Appear" to cross that line! [-X

Go right up to it ... Yeah! And, the Closer You might get to "it", without crossing "it", is sort of an Affirmation of Your "Maleness"!!

The Guys at work do not know, for "Sure", though I assume they might "suspect", that I'm Gay! Most of the "Homo" Bantering that goes on, "Hey, Tim! You've got a Really "Purty" Mouth!!", is all done in supposed "Fun"! In Public they "seem" to want to "Play"! Get them alone, however, and all of a sudden they become quite Shy!! #-o

As tempting as they all are ... I doubt any of them really "mean" any of it! ](*,)

It's all a Game of "Call Your Bluff"! But, when You actually do ... they all get, suddently, "skittish"!! =;

Str8 Boys can be SO Frustrating!! :^o

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)

sometimes straight men have a hard time showing the feelings, especially the tender ones and SELDOM in front of other men. too dangerous to let your guard down. especially with certain stereotypical guys who are hung up on masculinity.

so, this banter is often perceived as a release valve and more often than not is just straight guys being weird and yes some of them are very weird when it comes to their feelings.

so alluring on one hand they are and then repulsive when walled off and tough. it's such a defensive game. one that i don't care to play.

I view it as a just a kind of residual discrimination ... that is ....It a type of post-social conscience allergic reaction , or pre-conscious (as opposed to unconscious) psychological group-mentality response to the growing acceptance of 'gay maleness' in society (particularly American society). Acceptance and even now outlawing such anti-gay harrassment that is now rapidly becoming the socially accepted norm threatens their very mind-set and existence. Sort of like how banning smoking in all public places results in some backlash from smokers or when some bar owner or restaurant owner refuses to enforce the new law and sits back - gleefully hoping his clients will defy the law that he so (wrongfully) believes is hurting him and his business. Their behavior is a kind of group pyschosis --- that for some people (esp the most threated of species ) such as the straight white (dominant-type alpha) male is a almost expected reaction to being so 'threatened.'
It's a bit like how whites (esp macho (rednecks) or lower caste males (while trailer trash was once what they were called) used to make all those black and racial slurs - in their privates clubs and among their fellow group member -- long after the Civil Rights Acts was on the law books. It takes years -- if not decades - for general 'man-on-the-street' attitudes to finallly attain some corrective re-adjustment. Bad-mouthing gays and deriding them is just one form of self-denial - unfortunately, it may actually be personal identity denial that can be far more than just humiliating to gay (and the rational) people who don't think humans should be treated with prejudiced attitudes and discriminitory behaviors or slurs.

It's a social phenomenon but it can also be a personal dilemman for some 'endangered' male who truly sense that they are at risk (of succumbing to their 'baser' instincts.

I find the diffences in female-to-female and male-to-male interactions quite interesting. A heterosexual female can comment on another female's beauty without eyebrows being raised. But straight guys have to do it in more discreet ways. In my observed experiences, a guy can tell his friends that another guy is attractive by commenting on how successful that guy is in meeting women. LOL

What gives? I think it's the latent homosexuality in all men that makes str8 guys do that...kind of like a whale coming up for air...
Though an overt action, it is actually a sub-concious mechanism on their part...
