Just an open question.

No right or wrong answers.

But in a time of economic, social, political and (without prying) maybe emotional or physical stress, where do you find hope?

Escapism? Optimism? Spirituality? Love (people or animals, etc.)?

I find hope in faith, and the people of faith who still feed the homeless, who still provide tutoring for poor kids in school and after school, who still teach English as a Second Language to immigrants, who fight to provide fair laws in states and municipatlities that do not view immigrants as problems but as us.

When I see educators, and activists, and conservationists, and naturalists, I remember that not everyone is greedy or selfish, and I am cheered.

Nearing retirement, I live in hope that I'll be healthier, more active, more socially hospitable, do more gardening, do more civic work, and do more writing and travelling.

And if death comes for me before I do my bucket list, I hope in the hereafter, and hope my mind is still with me as I go, and that I remain grateful for what is, rather than aggrieved for what will not be.

We have seen off Thatcher. We have made it through things that I cannot begin to describe.
As long as our love remains stronger than any hate, we will see off this current bunch of tuncs.

I see Hope in people who garden - to touch the Earth is to renew life.

When I see people being kind that gives me hope.

I saw a video somewhere on the net a couple weeks ago of a bald eagle flying with a big white winged bird in its mouth and on top of his head was another white bird pecking at his skull, somehow that gave me hope too.

I try to live my life following Adlerian approach. It was something I naturally thought on my own, but when I read about Adler I tried to put in more effort.

My hope comes from the young. Seeing babies discovering the world and kids growing up. I will not be around to see the full changes, but the changes go on and in my eyes, they will be better because of the history. Learning to overcome.

Same. I’ve been forced to spend a lot of time with young adults(18-25) at work lately and their generation isn’t bad as it’s been feared. They might be the generation that makes a real change in the world.

I live in northern Thailand and I see hope in the Thai people who do not profess the same expression of faith as me, and who are soft spoken, and very often of meagre income and yet they are happy in ways that challenge me and they forgive in ways that leave a deep impression on my life and what it means to forgive. Beautiful people.
