OMG this was my favorite when I was in like 1st grade. I wanted this to be a movie so bad when I was younger. There's something kinda gutterbutt about it coming out now. Only because as mentioned in your previous thread how ridiculous the movie industry has become with every movie being based on books/comics/short stories. I think there are a lot of talented people involved in this one. But it is still kind of annoying. Some things need to be left alone, And left to child's imagination. If they make "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible... Day" into a movie I'm gonna cut America.

The poster for that movie looks scary! haha

ive also seen pics from the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs movie.... i would have like to seen live action with that one but its CG

Well, I've also heard talk about a "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" movie being made. Actually, it'll be released at the end of this year.

Apparently it's going to look like a Pixar movie if you catch my drift. Sigh...
Now, where the hell is that Magic School Bus movie?? That is a gold mine of a movie franchise just waiting to happen.

OMG Magic School Bus! I could totally see that. I think that would actually be good. It could be like Willy Wonka (the original) good... Dammit why do I encourage these uncreative bastards?

My god this is HORRIBLE!!! Not just just because this movie is bound to be horrible, because you know adapting what a max of 50 sentences into a 100 page script is just BOUND to turn out well, but also because the imagery in that book was SO iconic. It's just going to be such a violations of something that seems so sacred. Not to mention it'll probably ruin the book for an entire generation.

UGH! I'm just so fed up with Hollywood right now! Isn't anyone other than Pixar willing to take a risk on ORIGINAL material rather than adaptations, remakes, and sequels.

it is supposed to be quite dark. like they stopped filming the movie because they director and studio was battling over which direction to take it in. the studio wanted it to be very disney and the director wanted it to be darker. i think the director won the battle though.

i think it will be good.

I need to correct myself. The book was only 10 sentence long they were just divided over many pages... clearly that's even better for such an adaptation no... 10 pages to 2 hours makes perfect sense.

I have no clue how they will make a movie out of that. But I loooove the book. I wish they would make just a short movie out of it.

i am guessing they will write a proper script and have quite a bit of action. but, i am a rocket scientist.

Hmmmm and here I was guessing that they'd write a fucking crappy script that looses the theme and quirky nature of the piece and instead imbue it with crap that detracts from the visual mastery and manages to be wholly uninteresting. You know the type of thing that bears absolutely no semblance of the source material and simply uses it as a strategy to beef up audience it couldn't get on the merit of it's own performance.

I'm looking up some info and the director and writer, Spike Jonze, was a writer for Jackass (the show and movies)

 He also directed Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and dozens of music and skate videos.

I see you rented Prince Caspian.

how would the film, even if it's bad, "ruin the book for an entire generation"?

how would the film, even if it's bad, "ruin the book for an entire generation"?

The brother's Grimm penned over two hundred stories, stories that had been told and retold for generation after generation across whole countries yet by the seventies studies by Folklorist Kay Stone found that upwards of 90 percent of American youths were only able to recognize the stories which had been done by Disney and at that they only were aware of the Disnified version of the stories.

Film and television have revolutionized the way we view our world and after classic texts are transformed into films people often first encounter the cinematic version. Now if you see some suck as version of a film branded as "Where The wild Things Are" that is what you're going to think of as "Where The Wild Things Are." And in that I say it'll ruin the book for a generation.

Oh, if it's Spike Jonze it's bound to be an interesting movie. But if you really love the book I'd still recommend staying away. There's only one Maurice Sendak (who's gay BTW...)
