Ok I have a couple questions.. first does anyone own a sleep number bed or a tempurpedic matress?? if so how much did it cost and are you happy with it..
I decided i seriously need a new bed and after watching infomercials :) i want one of the two above.

I did some research online before I went shopping and found many complaints about heat issues with these types of beds. Aparently people are waking up in pools of sweat from the foam.
I decided to try one of the memory foam pillows out to see if it was true and sure enough my head was hot all night and by morning I was sweaty. In the end we went with the tried and true pillowtop innerspring.

I already have a memory foam topper on my bed and that doesnt create any heat issues with me but i dunno if it would be different with the whole mattress that way.. The thing i worry about is after spending a lot of money on a bed it not being comfortable. I know someone that has a sleep number bed and they swear by it so i think im gonna have to go try it one day and see how it is for me.

I bought a new bed recently. I too went with a fairly basic pillowtop mattress.

Tempurpedic feels great, but the price was just way over my budget. I wasn't going to finance a bed. While I value my sleep, I just could not justify the cost.

:-)

Im at the point now where i dont care what a bed costs(within reason cause im not totally stupid) as long as i get the best sleep i can... With my second job starting back up in the morning i will be getting 4 1/2 hours consecutive sleep and then a 1-2 hour nap total every day so i want good sleep for that short period of time...

I would really recomend a "Euro-top" (its a modified pillow top) I paid somewhere between $800-$1200 for the set and it's the most comftorable bed I ever tried. I agree with the heat issues from the foam. It's terrible like sleeping on a leather couch.

Plus is that tempurpedic mattress the one that was invented by NASA? That infomercial........... yea look up their quote "certifed by the space foundation" what a crock of bullshit. The mattress does not breath when you try to sleep, and I'm one who alwyas likes to have cool pillows and sheets, if I'm hot while trying to sleep I'm the most misrible person in the world.

Thanks for the tips..

Ive heard a lot of info on not getting the tempurpedic but nothing on the sleep number bed yet.. does anyone have one?? :(

I have one.. why don't you come sleep with me and see how you like it?

Sleep number bed is a fancy air mattress

tempurpedic matresses are synthetic foam....they get warm, people complain about the smell of them, some people don't like the lumpy fealing they feel when they move around in the bed because it takes a while for it to come back to shape...sometimes described as feeling like sleeping on jello or quicksand.

Both mattresses are synthetic and do not breathe.....so your body can heat up, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. But of course, they do work for a lot of people. Some people don't care about these things and it works for them.

so what kind of bed do you have and do you like it? the only reason i keep thinking about those two is cause im always watching the informercials since i cant sleep in my bed anyway...

Actually the momory foam breathes... The new mattresses by Tepurpedic have counteracted the old problems...

I highly recommend you check them out!

Im sure i will go look at them at least.. if i remember correctly the mall by my house just opened a store that sells them.. i never went in there before but they have a bunch set up and you can go lay on them so i guess ill see.

i have a king pillow top with water tubes in the mattress on a regular box springs...was about 700.00 4 yrs ago. absolutely zero complaints.

all the comfort of a waterbed but not of the old sloshy sloppy action. i keep the tubes on one side slightly fuller for the nights my back hurts or if there is going to be activity.the other side for when/if i've overindulgedr get into the nesting mode.
