Which is your favorite anti-virus program?

Avast Professional.

Sorry Norton lovers, Norton kills your system resources and McAfee kills your computer period.

I use Zone Alarm on my desk top and AVG on my laptop. When my subscription to Zone Alarm is up I'm switching to AVG for both. It works well, is problem free(on my laptop at least) and its free.

I have AVG on both my PC and laptop, every so often I go to "Windows live one care" and let it totaly clean and tune up both, all free.

Without any question whatsoever its AVG free edition. Perfectly adequate and it doesn't gobble up system resources like that bastard Norton.

Avast sounds like something a pirate would say.
I'd say AVG Free but AVG is going to stop making that in about a week or two.
So AVG it is.

I've been using Grisoft AVG for quite some time now and it has yet to disappoint me!

I used to use Symantec Corp, but when i noticed it was sucking a fair amount of resources i switched (around christmas time) to AVG free. so far i've liked it.

This was covered in an earlier thread, but AVG is not going to stop making the free edition. they are just making a new version that you have to download.

if you go here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
you can read the following:
New Free Anti-Virus

GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. This new 7.5 version with improved performance and full compatibility with the latest Windows Vista version is available. Users that are using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option fulfilling their needs. AVG Free 7.1 version will be discontinued on 18th of Feb 2007.

You can get the new 7.5 version now from here (just scroll down till you see version 7.5.441): http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free

Yeah, ok ok I get it.
I read that on AVG's site just after I posted the comment. There was no time left to edit said comment.

I've been using the Trend Micro products for a few years now, and have been very happy with them.

Norton Antivirus... Errr, excuse me, "Symantec" Antivirus Corporate doesn't, it's very efficient. But you're right about McAfee.

Depending on what "Symantec" product you have, the one my friend has totally kills his computer even when he's running only 512MB of ram. It might be faster if you're running 2GB of RAM.

I've tried Norton, ZoneAlarm, Panda, McAfee, avast!, Trend and AVG Free. I'm currently running the latter; it's quite fast but I don't know if its virus protection is as strong as that of commercial products yet.

ZoneAlarm disappointed me greatly when it didn't detect three viruses.
