I was driving down the road yesterday and getting no clear radio signal on my radio. I realized that I had AM and FM. Does anyone really still listen to AM radio? What's the point? All it is is talk radio. Does anyone still listen to the radio at all? With a recent job change I've been driving more and now have realized how horrible radio is with all the commercials. I am planning a trip to the library tomorrow to get some books on CD.

Sure do, 1290 AM is the station that my car radio is most likely to be tuned to. Sometimes I'll switch the dial though and listen to other channels. I've got more presets on the AM dial that I set than the FM side though.

AM Radio? What is this AM radio you speak of? ;)

I bought myself an iTrip so that I could hear my own stuff. I can't stand most songs on the radio, and I hate the commercials even lest... besides, the signal here is really bad.

I guess this helps my cred as "an old soul", as them young whipper snappers that I hang around say.

My last driving job, the company vehicle only had an AM radio, and being in it for 10 hrs a day, I got real familar with AM radio. Some talk shows I liked, others hated.

1010 AM W-INS News Radio in NYC. Their famous slogan is "you give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world". Always listened to it on the way to school when I was in high school mainly for commuting and weather info.

"Raises hand to admit listening to AM radio"!!!

Hey, I am a talk-show junky, and that I listen to people talking rather then someone yelling and screaming sometimes....

I got use to listening to AM when I was in open spaces here in the West where there were NO signals (before satellite radio) so AM fit the bill and I got hooked on talk-radio!!!(*8*) (*8*)

Every now and then I listen to Radio 10 Gold, which is a Dutch AM station. There is quite a bit of spoken word, but about 50% of the airtime is spent on music, so I guess it's not too bad.

Actually, KYW 1060 AM is still the highest rated Philly station (all news) but I remember the days when AM was king! Believe it or not! In Philly, it was WFIL 560 AM and WIBG 990 AM. That started changing in the late 70s as people migrated to WMMR 93.3 and WYSP 94.1...

I do sometimes. WTIC 1080 is a very big AM station here in Connecticut. If I need to know the Traffic, News or Weather report I'll tune in. Otherwise I stay on FM.

If you want to try something fun, tune into NPR (on FM) on late Saturday mornings. They have a funny show called "Car Talk" with these two brothers from Boston who dish out all kinds of advice from car repairs to how to date your mechanic! It will leave you laughing your ass off even if you don't know how to open the hood of your car.

Car talk is usually followed by a few other NPR quiz shows like "Wait wait don't tell me" which is also very clever and funny.

1290-WHIO hasn't been worth anything since they got rid of Kent Voss. I do remember listening to Lou Emm, before school, praying that my school was on the list of snow cancellations!

I listen to talk radio and news, but also to sports talk, such as WFAN in New York or WTEM in DC.

Radio? What's radio?

I have one word:

iPod.

VW Jetta + Alpine stereo + Alpine iPod Adaptor + iPod mini = Heaven.

You can listen to music or spoken audio (audiobooks, podcasts, foreign language lessons, whatever toots your horn).

I listen to KOMO 1000 am in the mornings as I'm getting ready for work and just as I start my drive too usually. I'm pretty much listening to them for traffic and weather information since I have a 70 mile commute one way.

I thought that that was the niche that AM radio now fills - "traffic every ten minutes on the sevens" sort of thing. It's a valuable resource for those who drive a lot.

As a kid, I only listened to FM. As an adult, I only listened to AM until I got my XM ToGo radio. I only listen to XM now.
