I just updated Skype and it gave me the option of making Bing my default search service. I use Google and I figure pretty much everyone else does too. Am I wrong? I see people using Bing on TV shows and some movies and I wonder "Really? Is this just product placement?" Does anyone use Bing and think it's better than Google?
 
Never used it, never will.
Infact since its a Microsoft thing its a banned word on my network (just like all their other things) so I can't even access it :)
 
Thanks. So I guess it really just is product placement when you see someone using it on a TV show
 
tried it... don't really have anything negative to say about it, but it didn't impress me in any way that would have inspired me to switch from Google.

It certainly is. Microsoft pay big dollars to have their products, including Windows and Bing, appear in TV and movies.

Apple pay for product placement with free hardware - typically, if you see an Apple computer or phone/iPad in a TV show or movie, Apple gave it to the production for free.

True story: When making Sex In The City: The Movie, Apple wouldn't give the production free iPhones (which were groovy and new at the time) despite the product being used onscreen, because the gag in the movie was that Carrie asked for a phone, was handed an iPhone, and responded something like "No, a phone I can use!".

Funny you should point that out. It feels like whatever I'm watching these days there's an iPhone or a Mac in it
 
Whenever you see someone using bing in a TV show micro$oft have definitely paid a lot of money for that product placement.
I even remember an episode of How I Met Your Mother that must have been completely funded by microsoft, it's full of xboxes and bing searches.

I have tried it, and thought it was pretty bad, that was when it first came out. I've also recently done this thing where you compare searches between Bing and Google, but blind so you don't know which results come from which engine. You are then asked to pick the results that look better or more accurate to what you searched, in the end it tells you the results and for me it was 100% google as the better option.

So in my opinion Google is better.

Bing pissed me off by hiding in other software and installing itself in additional toolbars and taking over my home pages, shoving itself down my throat. If it's as great as they say it is, the product should speak for itself. You can't force yourself on half the planet and then claim how great you are because so many people got stuck with you without a choice.
 
If you are looking for images of someone, including porn, Bing is better.
 
I guess that I use Bing. It seems to be the default on my system. I don't think that I asked for it, but it is just there. It is okay.
