This is a post from my current Live Journal blog. Thought it about time for something a little newer.Well it wasn't such a great Sunday in Indy for a lot of folks. The Monday headline in the Indianapolis Star was "DETHRONED" in about 4 inch letters and a scathing article by one of the sports column writers. Poor Marvin Harrison had been out with an injury most of the season and the first pass he got was fumbled around the 20 yard line and we would have gone up 14 to 0. He caught the ball but was trying to do a spin around and get more yardage and the ball just came loose. And we struggled the rest of the day. Probably the last game for Coach Dungy. I think he's ready to go on and do other things. They have their son registered in Tampa Bay schools already. He has said if he quits coaching he won't be coming back to coaching. Well life goes on and the Colts will be moving to the new stadium next year. It will be interesting to see who the new coach will be. I'm guessing the Superbowl will be Packers and who else?Patriots. That will be great for my dear friend Sophia. However I have a connection to the Giants. I've actually had a Giants superbowl ring in my hands. I had a supervisor at work who was on the Giants team when they won the SB. He was one of the best bosses I've had, However he was upwardly mobile and didn't remain my boss for a long time. He's an area manager now. He's from Atlanta. I knew he had THE ring as that is one of the first gossip things you learn when you come into a department. He and I would talk often, as he and I got on well. He was very caring and concerned about me as I was going through Hepatitis C treatment at the time. Anyway he was talking with me and kind of had his arm propped up on something as we talked and he had his SB ring on and I said jokingly."Hey that's a pretty big ring there." He then took it off and handed it to me. It was really nice and BIG Their (NY Giants) ring had the Lombardi trophy made out of diamonds in the center of it on a blue background. Then there are the dates of the SB on one side and his initials on the other side. I know he wore it in simply to let me see it as he does not wear it around all the time. And no,I did not put it on. I feel that it was his ring and he earned it and no one has the right to wear it but him. I was very impressed that he would even bring it in for me to see. I don't see him too often anymore as I am in a different product line now and in a different part of the building (Our building is nearly a quarter mile long, it's huge) but he always stops and says hello and asks how I'm doing when our paths cross. I'd have to say he is one of my favorite people at work.
