Forgetting looks - who is your favourite gay celebrity and why?
I would have to say mine is probably Boy George. Simply because back in his day he did a lot to help make gay people more acceptable to the masses . OK - he was never completely 'out' verbally at first, although he wanted to be, but everyone knew he was gay and he was loved by so many - from young kids to old grannies. Some gays hated him 'because' of the way he looked, but at the time he was quite revolutionary and like it or not - he 'did' make a difference.
Nowadays he is very vocal over gay issues and actually fights for the cause which makes a refreshing change where so many daren't.
Granted he has made mistakes in his life but who hasn't? At least he was man enough to stand up and be accountable for them.
I must say though I am not really a fan of his music career, although I do like his DJing and clothes designing. He prefers an understated, quieter music career these days with only self promotion and choosing not to re-sign with a label. His shows are very intimate and low key now, also by choice, but personally I prefer to be entertained with all the glitz and glam of someone like Madonna or Lady Gaga.
I just think that he doesn't really get the credit he deserves sometimes from the critical public and would like to know who you would rate as your favourite gay celeb and why?
