A question for the Straights: Why do you smack each others ass so much? As a gay it is basacilly flirting if I do that by a guy or he does that to me. So why do you guys do it? And do you like it when they do it to you? Love some answers and if you have some slap ass stories please share

I can't speak for purely straight guys as I'm not one, but it seems to be a kind of bonding, like a high-five but closer. It seems to be pretty common in sports and seems to say "hey I can do this because we're NOT gay". It seems to fall into the category of homosociality: a same-sex relationship that's not of a romantic or sexual nature that reinforces hetersexuality and emphasises solidarity between men. It may have its most well-known example in ancient Greek mentorship of younger men by older men. Of course, I'm not a sociologist and I'm doing a lot of supposing, and you may possibly come to the (not unreasonable) conclusion that I'm full of shit, but I'm just giving my own take on it.

When I've observed ass-slapping in male sports there seems to be a set of unspoken rules that reinforces the no-homo concept:
No squeezing
Just one cheek
Keep the eyes up
Only during the game in the heat of the moment

I'm not aware of or familiar with heterosexual ass-slapping outside of sports. I'd be interested to hear of any other guys' experiences or observations.

i know that what i am about to post is not about ass slapping. On my last job , The guys use to dry hump each other. If they thought that you got the short end of a deal.
