I was in a pizza establisment this week and Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" came on the radio and one of the (very) young servers asked her boss if she could change the channel.

A couple of months ago a co-worker (not very young) was ribbing another co-worker of mine about how he was gonna bring "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" to work and make her listen to it (she, a big Beatles fan).
Okay, I know it's not "Bridge Over Troubled Water" or "Stairway To Heaven" and it's certainly not one of my top 100 favorites, but why does everybody put this li'l pop gem down?
Was it TOO successful? "Go-Go" not only spent 3 weeks at No. 1, a total of 24 weeks in the Hot 100, ending 1985 as the No. 3 pop hit of the year (Wham! also had the No. 1 hit of '85 in "Careless Whisper"), but without it, "Make It Big" probably wouldn't have sold 6-million units.
Is there anybody brave enough out there, LOL, to rush to the defense of this song and explain why it is looked down with such disgust in 2007?
