I think it is expensive, does not work with all softwares and hardwares, and there are many things that might crash with it.
So, why is that everyone wants it anyways?

I'm on a mac. That would be the operating system that Vista is trying to emulate (3 years later). :gogirl:

Vista is like every other Microsoft release...late, expensive, buggy, and outright copying the best of Mac.

what did they copy come on list it i am sick of this they copy each other just as much

list it!!!!!!!!

McDonalds sells a round burger. Wendys serves them square. They're both hamburgers so who copied who?

Exactly who is going to care who copied the other when knowing so won't make any difference?

It's not a complete copy, but it is in the style of. I absolutely hate the look of vista. They are trying to emulate, not copy MAC OS X. I have a pc with XP, and even though it had its quirks XP is still ten times better than vista, and yes I must agree with all you mac users, even though I don't particularly like macs, I can see their redeeming qualities. MAC OS X is by far better than Vista can ever be.

isnt it a bit harsh to judge a OS that you dont use?

as for looking the same maybe i am stupid but i really dont see it mac osx is a brushed aluminium look and every thing is solid

vista is black and shiny looking and also has transparencies

oh thats it microsoft went and used blue for the buttons fuck sorry total rip off  dont know how i could have missed it

Why is everyone so fascinated about Vista?

Because it's NEW. We live in a society fueled by consumption.

And maybe because it looks better than XP.

Why are all the mac users so quiet today

other than its the vibe of the place

what else is vista copying

I didn't want it, got fed up arguing with windows software, fighting off viruses, plugging and playing for hours to get stuff to work, I wanted a computer to be a tool to help me do what I want, so I got a Mac and am very happy. I now understand why mac users swear by them & not at them.

Let's let the NYT's David Pogue explain.

1) spotlight as it is called in osx was shown in vista before and released for xp before OSX

2) widgets were create first by konfabulator for apple OSX not by apple itself it then copied it ironically Apple were going to use Gadgets but changed to widgets later in development

3)its a chess game

its not like mac copy is it  what is that new feature umm system restor.... sorry "time machine" i always get those confused

So if you had a bunch of expensive software, oh lets say something like MS OFFICE for XP, isn't true that it no longer works on Vista and you need the new OFFICE just to even be able to access all your previous documents? That seems like a rather extreme move.

100% untrue
office 2003 should work

the new office can save in the old office format but also in the 2007 format which isn't backwards compatible

2007 is actually really cool and actually very innovative ..|

and very expensive.

Really, the office I have now is much more than I need for my personal needs. What about Office 2002? Do you know if that too will run on Vista? I don't think 2003 was drastically different than 2002 so I'd think I would be fine.

People are fascinated with Vista because it is such a bad program. After five and a half years of development by the world's largest software company, it is nevertheless buggy, hogs resources, crashes a lot, runs more slowly than anything since Win 95, is incompatible with existing software and hardware, and is very, very expensive. What's more, it ushers in a new era of abuse of the end user through its DRM features, its big brother-like spying tendencies, and its abusive-to-legitimate-users anti-piracy features. And yet, the entire world rushes to embrace it for no reason other than because it's from Microsoft.

That is why Vista is so fascinating.

Could you BE anymore biased against Microsoft? Most new technology, especially digital technology of this natuture that comes out will have something that will need to be fixed or updated, that is a fact. So the fact that you seem to be calling out Microsoft and their 'problems' like it's some kind of rarity is completely unecessary.

Do you even own Vista? Its one thing to talk about it based on stuff you read or what friends told you. It's completely different when you have it and can actually speak for yourself. Because if you actually had Vista you'd know you don't know what you're talking about at all.

Hmm. Having spent years with windows I hope you will indulge the newly converted. I was a mac hater and windows tolerant, Now I never want to see a pc again. But I will admit I am not a gamer just a gay man. Flames welcome!!
