My personal favorite character actor, William Christopher, best known for his role as Father Mulcahy on M*A*S*H, has died. He was 84 years old.

He was a wonderful man. If you guys could have seen him in person you would gladly have called him friend. William Christoper was one of the good guys and I will miss him.

William Christopher was all over television in the 1960's. From "The Andy Griffith Show" to "Hogan's Heroes", William Christopher made the rounds back in the day.

No matter what the role, he always played himself - a very likeable, wonderful man.

If it's not out of keeping with the situation: Jocularity! Jocularity!

I know William only from M*A*S*H, but he was one of my favourite characters, especially when he lost his temper. Wonderful character. Wonderful man. I shall continue to enjoy his gentle humour in reruns.

M*A*S*H may have been the only regular series where William was allowed to give some range to his character.

I can't think of many emotions he didn't cover, even when he was a surgeon. (Remember the tracheotomy with Radar?) It wasn't, "But Hawkeye, I can't do that!" It was, "Do you think I can?" His character came a long way from the first few episodes where he didn't do very well in the operating room.

I'm glad they replaced George Morgan with William after the pilot.

One of the outstanding features of M*A*S*H was watching the characters grow and evolve, and so did the audience just by watching.

William Christopher was a wonderful character actor, who gave Father Mulcahy heart.
His humor was gentle, yet effective.
He will be missed.

Awww...I loved that guy. I am so sorry he is gone....for me it is a loss...RIP William :(

Very sad news, he looks very cute as well.

I agree. He was a handsome man in a cute sort of way.

I'm grateful for all the laughter and tears M*A*S*H brought in a decade when it was sorely needed.

May he rest in peace.

I always had a crush on him.

RIP Father Mulcahy...
