Hello men,
It's zero degrees here. The snow is piled 5 inches deep on the railing outside my window. The sky is clear and there is no breeze. Zero degrees isn't as bad as it sounds. It's the wind chill factor that gets you. Wind chill can make it feel 10 to 20 degrees colder. Right now there is no wind, and I am thankful. They say we are "hardy" up here in the North Country. I'm not sure what that means. Yeah, I'm hard sometimes, but I don't feel hardy.
I wish I could say I was an outdoorsman in the winter time, but I'm not. I would love to learn to cross country ski. My straight buddies invite me to go ice fishing, but I'm afraid of what might happen in the ice shanty. It seems so Brokeback Mountain-ish.
My favorite part of winter is when its about 28 degrees and lots of sunshine. Snow covers everything, the air is fresh, the sun just warms your face while you're out walking. You come home to a dinner of chili and red wine, and listen to your favorite music. If this is hibernation, I never want to wake up.
