I mentioned on the forums that I've recently been playing about with 3D images in blender and yafray. I thought I'd make a gallery to post my efforts in:

In addition to the image of the ring I already posted, there's my first attempt at a wineglass, which I spent all last night tweaking:

There's both good things and bad things about it. I like the overall shape, and I managed to set up the caustic reflections pretty well. But I made the glass of the bowl too thick, which is why there's those funny black marks round the brim. And the shadow is too solid.

Oh well. You can't learn everything at once, and I only downloaded the software a week ago.

Another day, another Blender tutorial worked through. This one: how to model a soda can.

No, I didn't create all the textures myself, they were part of the tutorial, I just did the basic modelling and the scene setup.

Rendered in Blender's internal renderer with ambient occlusion turned on, because I couldn't get the lighting to work in Yafray.
