Have trouble with mine alot. Earlier I lost my connection and it said it couldn't detect the wireless device. Finally the computer rebooted itself & came back on line. Also lose connection if they are updating. I think it has failed also but is not the case. sometimes 1-2 hrs later it works just fine. Are you feeling better today?

yes they can just fail sometimes like anything

How old is the card?

if its fairly new you could probably take it back to the shop and exchange it thats what i did when mine died after only about 2-3 weeks i changed the internal one for a usb one and have had no probs since

If you're able to view available wireless networks, your wireless card is fine. Since you're able to access the internet through a physical connection, I'd say your wireless router is acting up (or the wireless component of your modem, depending on your setup).

it could be broken but it could be the software or something

what card is it?

maybe try reinstalling the software from the companys website

Hmmm, i suppose it could be a bad card, but it seems more like the card just isn't being recognized any more.

If you go to RIGHT CLICK "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager, under Network Adapters (or anything for that matter) do you see any icons with a red 'X' or a yellow '!'? If so, then we probably have a driver problem of some sort on our hands.

But if all that checks out fine, it may be something more serious (or something ridiculously simple). But i wouldn't go blaming hardware malfuntion just yet (though ultimately it *could* be).

Well then the problem may not be your card it all, it may be your router, cable/dsl modem, or internet connection.

First off, try turning off your computer, unplugging both your cable/dsl modem and router for a few seconds, and then plugging them back in, then restarting your computer. And see if that doesn't fix the problem.

If that doesn't, see if you can access your router's control panel vie web browser by going to it's access address (this would be it's I.P. address, such as 192.168.1.1, your router's sepcific info would be in the instruction manual, or on the manufacturer's website). If you can access that control page, the problem isn't with your network card.

Let us know what results you get.

LoL, honestly? Any number of things. Your IP could have been reset, or the lease expired and there was a fuck up getting a new one. Or the connection could have dropped out, and the router failed to recognize it was back on. Or there could have been a firmware freeze-up in the router, any number of random things. But as far as those things go, just restarting your router, modem, and computer at the same time usually resets the whole shabang. Though i'm surprised windows didn't have a shitfest and give you that "limited or no connectivity" error, but who cares, it's fixed now ;).

It happens to most everyone once and a while, i had to restart my router just the other day for something similar. Just one of those things. Glad everything is working for you now! :)
