after being overweight for a long time, i've finally decided to do something about it. i plan on doing at least a half hour of cardio a day while lifting weights. my question is what kind of underwear is best for exercising. in the past ive had underwear bunch up or end up sticking to me the whole time. anyone have any suggestions?

Briefs do it for me. OR, you could just wear a jockstrap.

Hmmmm...you certainly don't have to be an underwear fashion plate to work out. The key is comfort and some protection. When I work out, I wear a quality jock strap and gym shorts. Period. Underwear is not an option. Works for me.

I would also say jock strap...as someone who dances...when you move around alot and you have actual underwear on you can get some bad skin irritation down there. Jock is totally the way to go.

Put me in the jock strap camp. They're specifically designed for working out!

I usually wear snug-fitting Jockey underwear. They're bikini style and surprisingly comfortable, and give me a nice bulge :p. I also have a jockstrap in my gym locker, but I've never seen anyone at my gym wear one, so I hesitate to use it (except for swimming). Another great option is the spandex shorts (like underarmour). They give you support and prevent rubbing of the thighs.

i prefer under armour compression shorts. my thighs are pretty big and they help keep them from rubbing together as much.

I, too, wear a jock strap when ever I work out. I am fifty years old and have noticed that jocks are worn only by guys around my age bracket. Therefore, and unfortunately, jocks are seldom seen at the gym I belong to. On one rare occasion, there were three other men in the locker room that had jocks on at the same time. The much younger guys seemed to just stare at us as if they had never seem a jock strap before! All three of the other jock clad men were at least above the age of 45; therefore, I think this is certainly a generational thing.
