not really interested in the next gen of DVD movies. But I am excited at the results of the PS3....I'm just not excited about that price they want to charge for it. I figure by next christmas they will have to drop there price inorder to increase there market share. So with me getting a PS3...that's puts me on the side of Blue Ray format.

Who knows though...last time I went through something like this it was VHS vs BETA....I choose wisely! :) here's hoping I'm right again!

I'll probably nab one. Ialready have a 360 and £120 for the add on is much cheaper than the £500+ (around $1000) thay want for the standalone player. It also leaves the door open to re formatting, games like Blue Dragon are 50GB+ and would never fit on anything less than 5 or 6 regular DVDs, but HD would be 2.

...ironically Blue Dragon is in fact going to be released on a normal DVD. The HD-DVD drive will be strictly for movies, games won't make use of it. Also, if you use a VGA cable to connect the 360 to your HDTV, it will upscale your existing DVDs.

On another interesting note, every single format Sony has tried to launch so far failed. I'm not saying Blu-Ray will bite it, it's just interesting that they've been been unable to pull that stuff off (I suppose a lot of it has to do with Sony being too big for its own good and there not being a lot of coordination between the various branches, although the new CEO seems to be trying to change that).

actually almost all video game add ons have bite it in the end! The one good thing about PS3 is that Sony will be making games using the Blue-Ray Tech. Tommorrow is Sony's GAME DAY and all details on the PS3 will be released to the public!!

i dont know but im almost 99% sure it doesnt cost more to make a ps3 than what theyll sell it for!

no he's right! video game companies always lose money on the consoles. It's the games where they make there money back. The PS3 will beable to play Blue Ray discs right out of the box for $500 canadian. Most Blue Ray Players cost about 700 to 1200 Canadian right now.

Toshiba's HD-DVD-Player is available for € 699,- in my country, while Samsung's BluRay-Player (which isn't available until January '07, so I've been told) would cost 1.299,- Euros. So far there are no other brands offering any high definition DVD-Players here. Both BluRay and HD DVD discs are offered at ~ € 30. We don't even have a release date for the PS3 yet.

To fully enjoy a HD broadcast you would have to buy a Premiere certified HD satellite box (~ € 400,-) and sign a two-year contract with Premiere television for approx. 60 Euros/month (~ € 1400,- in 2 years) just to receive three (!!!) HD channels.

Total rip-off.

PS. anybody know if Philips is going to support HD-DVD or BluRay?
