you should listen to your teacher
I went to a secondary modern school for boys in the 1960s
it was very rough with boys who failed the 11-plus in juniors school
rigorous discipline the teachers often used cane or slipper the gym teacher was the best straight to the point the first meeting was to weigh us our height then he got us in the gym in a circle and said who wakes up with a hard-on no one wanted to say me sir so he asked again ok you are all liars 5 times round the gym run back to the circle asked again 3 put their hands up the rest of you 5 times round the gym then back to the circle asked again all put their hands up its a piss hard on it means to take a piss not a wank if you don't listen to your body you will pay dearly in late life
the maths teacher first lesson remember your maths not lies dont lie you have to remember a lie don't fill your memory wth lies the truth wins always lies come second
the best years of my life school

Well that explains a lot.

There was a two tier school system at that time. 'Eleven Plus' was an examination designed to separate pupils into the more academic stream, who went to the 'grammar' school, and a less academic stream who were sent to the 'secondary modern' where lessons had a practical, down to earth bias. Though I was lucky enough to get into the better school, the gym teacher was still a sadistic bastard. It must be in the job specification. I hate him to this day. All the rest were great, the headmaster particularly is remembered with great personal affection by every former pupil I have ever heard from.

When I have spent time with school teachers socially, dinners in their homes and such, I found that one of their favorite, or most common subjects they like to talk about, is the sedatives they have been prescribed.:)

My science teacher would pick a booger and put it on his moustache for later. Later on you would see him get it with his bottom teeth for a snack.

I suppose they are crunchier if you air fry them?

Mr. Provost you were so gross.

Air dry them.

I remember an old Latin teacher in university. He spent 5, maybe 10 years, saying "I'm retiring this year"
One day he said: "You will learn something from every teacher you have. Something good or something bad, but always something."
He was right.

A picky eater, no doubt. Probably low calorie, though, and he could enjoy them on the run.

In my day the 11 plus divided us into three streams, secondary (for the dumb ones), grammar (for the cerebral ones) and technical high for the practical ones. I went to a tech and I am the most un-practical person. So it didn't work that well.
