I had a friend get it done our senior year of high school. He said it hurt like hell, but he got it done because he was joining the Army and didn't want to be teased about being uncut and such.

He was really happy after he had it done, the only thing was he had to have lots of bed rest and said that getting erections hurt a lot. He got it over our winter break so he could have plenty of bed rest.

Don't do it.

If a guy isn't interested in you because of your uncircumcised penis then he is shallow and not worth your time anyway. I'm personally cut, I've been with a few uncircumcised guys; it doesn't bother me a bit.

I'm sure your penis is beautiful the way it is.

I had a friend who got circumsized when he was 20. He told me it was one of the most painful things he ever went through. He said he couldn't even touch himself down there for almost a week after he had it done. The reasons he had it done was some of the very same you are saying in your post. He's from England and one of the reasons he had it done was because he wanted to be cut like all his American friends. To me the uncut cock is very sexy!! I would really think about this before doing it. Don't do something just because you think everyone else is cut. Who knows you may start meeting some guys who like the uncut man!! Goodness knows theres plenty of them out there. Just take a look at the forum posts here on jub! I think you'll find the uncut man is pretty popular!

First, don't do it to make someone else pleased; do it to make yourself happy. You mentioned early on in your post that you were unhappy and uncomfortable. You might even want to look at some counseling to make sure this will reverse those feelings because once it's cut, it's cut.

I was cut but I find a male penis that is uncut can be a turn-on. Yes, they have extra skin that has to be washed around, but as someone said earlier, I have to make sure I scrub my penis as well or it can get an odor. I have found guys that are uncut are great to give blowjobs to because when you run your tongue around and flick under the head, it drives them crazy!

As for insurance, if you are on your parents insurance, they probably will receive notification from their carrier that a procedure took place. Normally there will be some kind of co-pay and the holder of the insurance will receive the bills. As for exact details, you can simply tell your doctor not to share them and, because you are 18, HIPPA rules prohibit any release of details or other info to anyone!

I'm not sure what the cost of getting circumcised will be but it also might not be covered by your insurance unless there is a medical necessity listed by your doctor. You might want to make sure it is or you could be stuck with a large bill.

As to loss of sensation, all the guys I've been with that are uncut mention the sensation of the foreskin rubbing on the head when they masturbate; the even more strong sensation when the head is being touched by a tongue or the ass! As I said earlier, make sure it is what you want 'cause they can't sew it back on!

damn, i wish we could trade, ill take ur uncut and you can have my cut ok? lol i luv uncut cocks:)

i have to add: i know everyone feels differently, but "who in there right mind wouldnt want an uncut cock.??"
Sorry no offense i just really wish i was uncut... I live in the US by the way.

don't do it !!!! I was cut at birth & I am now doing restoration to get some of it back

Is getting a circumcision now dangerous and unhealthy?

Circumcision in adults is considered a major surgery. It can be done under local anesthesia although most patients prefer to have it under general anesthesia. You will be placed on the table and given a sedative to relax you. A needle with local anesthetic is injected into your penis. Most patients who are awake report it burns for a short time; if you have general anesthesia you will be asleep and will feel nothing. After this, your foreskin is clamped and a scalpel is used to trim your foreskin. Your foreskin is stitched, so you will have stitches to take care of for several days after the surgery. The surgery takes about an hour and you will be in the recovery area for a short period afterward. You will be required to have someone drive you home.

You will not be able to have sex including masturbation for about 4-6 weeks. It is very painful- particularly in the first 48 hours after surgery. Many patients get spontanous erections in the first couple of days and they report that the erections are painful.

The complication rate is fairly low but as with all surgery, there is a risk of deformity, nerve damage and infection.

How could I get this done without have to going to my parents (I'm currently in college). Should I just wait till after I've graduated, with my own job and health insurance? Is it expensive?

If your doctor diagnoses you with phimosis, your insurance will pay for it. Without this diagnosis, it may be considered elective surgery and not covered. You would have to go through an approval process and your parents would probably receive notification of the authorization from the insurance company. You would also be expected to provide an emergency contact- so you would need to think about whether you would want your parents notified in the event of an adverse incident during the surgery.

The cost is dependent on whether you have a general or local anesthetic. Expect it to be in the $3000-5000 range.

Also is there a good chance it could become dangerous? Lose a lot of pleasure?

The studies say that circumcised males have less sensitive penis heads but more sensitive penis shafts.

Also, for those who don't know... while christian males are circumcised shortly after birth, jewish males are circumcised in the bris milah ceremony when they are 8 days old, , muslim males are usually circumcised in a tahara ceremony between the ages of 10-12 years old.

Do what you feel like doing. "Cut" vs "Uncut" threads are always divisive around here. It's a safe procedure, though it can be painful.

I was cut at birth, and don't regret it at all.

Investigate the insurance options. They'll probably help you out.

Circumcision is so cruel and completley unnecessary. I wonder why so many people here talk about it as something trivial, as if doing it had no consequences besides changing the look of the penis. There would be a scandal if this were done to baby girls, but since it's done to baby boys no one cares.

I would say you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Right now you might be in a particularly vulnerable point in your life where you are very self conscious. I don't really understand why anyone would actually want to be cut (I am uncut my self and very happy with it) so I might be a little biased. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you will be 100% happy in the long run, not just right away. Once you remove that sensentive and specialized skin, it is gone forever so make sure you do what is right for you.

sure you can always try to make it look worthwhile afterwards. even when keratinization and the loss of nerve-ends/sensation are a fact .. but never mind :)

My opinion on circumcision is much more focused on what happens to babies at birth. While they have no say in what happens to them, you're an adult and are free to make the decision that's right for you.

Keep one thing in mind though. If you do this, it will be a form of cosmetic surgery and not something medically necessary. It's in the same category as boob jobs, nose jobs, tummy tucks and liposuction. Surgery is not something that should be taken lightly. There's always a risk that something can go wrong. While highly unlikely, you could have an unexpected negative outcome or even die. Personally, I think that's a lot to risk just because you don't like the way a certain body part looks.

You pretty much summed up how I feel on the issue, drhladnjak. If an adult wants it done then it really is no different than any other body modification. But I am pretty against it happening to babies, however.

I don't understand why uncut American guys have some inferiority complex with their penis.

What is with this insecurity in American society with people and their bodies? If uncut guys are not obsessing over fears of their foreskin, then other men are obsessing over fears of penis size, whether they have washboard abs, etc.

Learn to accept your body for what it is, because it's natural and perfectly normal. Most men in Canada, Europe, Australia, and pretty much most of the world are uncut. The only people that are cut are usually Muslims and Jews. Just because you're not uncut in the US, the only first world country to circumcise for no real reason, doesn't mean that you're an outsider. Only American boys are insecure about their foreskin.

If people think that changing their body will make their attitudes towards their own body change, they're wrong. Getting your penis cut will not give you confidence, security, or even make you attractive. It's mental baggage.

EDIT:
I was cut at birth, and don't regret it at all.
You can't regret something you never had a choice in!!!

Most men in Canada, Europe, Australia, and pretty much most of the world are uncut.

I was cut at birth - and am glad that I was. personally prefer my own meat cut.

I know I didn't have a choice in it, I am just glad that I was done.

Love uncut cocks too - just not on me. (in me is fine!);)

as far as most of the guys in Australia being uncut, I am laughing.

I have seen quite a few Ausie cocks in my time - from all age groups - and I would say that it is probably 50/50 - or if it leans one way or the other I would say slightly more are cut. What I have noticed lately is more of the younger guys and teens who are cut. - which I was suprised at given the medical worlds rabidly anti-cutting campaign.

OP should make his own decision - but only after a lot of careful research - and using a very good surgeon.

Something to ponder, if you end up deciding to do it - hit your parents up for the cost of the operation - tell them that they didn't ask you at birth whether you wanted to be cut, and therefore they can now pay for something that you would have liked them to have done when it would have caused you less pain - or the adult awareness of pain - and the inconvenience of being out of action for a bit.;)

Paboy67 is correct. US and Australia both have higher rates of circumcized men of all the non-islamic, non-jewish countries.
