My take on this:

Halloween - I LOVE this one. My favorite of all of them. I own two copies of it on DVD for the different special features. I really must like something in order to own more than one copy of it.

Halloween II - Yes, the hospital setting was great (except for the fact that there was NOBODY in there lol) II was a pretty decent sequel.

Halloween 4 - This is my favorite of the sequels.

Halloween 5 - Boring, not one of my favorites.

Halloween 6 - I like the Producer's Cut better than the original version. Halloween 6 tried to explain the method behind Michael's madness and it just fell flat.

Halloween H20 - I liked that Jamie Lee Curtis decided to come back. It still irks me that they decided to ignore 4-6 and make it a direct sequel to Halloween II. I could do without 5-6 but 4 is one of my favorites. I also would like to know what Myers was doing in his missing 20 years since these films don't exist?

Halloween: Resurrection - Lame.

Rob Zombie's Halloween - I did like it however I think it has nothing on the original.

Halloween the Original was good.

Halloween H20 is my favorite. It was just a really good movie overall.

And I liked the New version of Halloween, because of the backstory.

The rest of the movies were complete garbage in my opinion.

GOOD
Halloween is a classic. No further explanation needed.

Halloween 4 is arguably the second best entry in the series. For an 80s slasher sequel, it's classy with a ton of heart.

H20: A dignified and well-polished piece of modern horror with a charming cast. No real complaints here.

OKAY
Halloween 5 has a terrific opening and closing. The middle is tenuous, but Danielle Harris' performance make up for its faults.

Halloween 6. Hm. An intriguing concept, but it definitely encountered some issues when it came to execution. I totally dig Kara Strode, though.

BAD
Halloween II showcases the most heinous editing I've ever seen in a mainstream film. Throw in the uncharacteristically graphic violence and egregious continuity errors and you get one heaping helping of bleh.

Resurrection. Um, a Halloween film whose bedrock consists of Busta Rhymes, reality television, and teen sexcapade-based comedy? No. thank. you.

Zombie's "contributions" to the franchise don't register on my radar.

And as for the anomaly known as Hallween III... Well, it was an intrepid effort. And the soundtrack was all bleepy-bloopy-Terminator-y, which was neat.

I love the series, well mostly.

First I want to say that Donald Pleasance was IMO, one of the best things about the series.

The original was of course good.
I liked the second one, especially for a sequel. Look at how horror sequels turn out these days (mostly), not too great.
I know the third one isn't Michael at all and is so over-the-top cheesey, but I like it for some reason.
I thought the fourth was okay, and the fifth was just..ehh. I was bugged by the fact that Michael seemed to randomly kill sometimes. Maybe they just seemed random to me.
Ugh and then the sixth was when they tried to do a backstory and take the mystery out of him. I think it had potential but didn't live up. Seems like now they just ignored that movie.
H2O was good. Fits with the school/kids theme that so many horrors like though.
Ressurection was just awful.

I was just so-so about the reboot. I like Malcolm McDowell but it just doesn't have the feel of the original. I'm sure I'll see the next one next month just for continuity.

Parts 1 & 2 Were Fantastic
H2O was ok, not a very eventful way for Laurie to die

well damn...couldn't have summed it up any better..|

Halloween is THE Best! Halloween II was OK with H20 being pretty darned good. It didn't bother me that H20 was a direct sequel from Halloween II. I thought the ending of H20 was just too cool.

By the way WHAT THE F**K was Halloween III??? How is that even a 'Halloween' movie? Duh Major stupidity there...

Other than the quality/storyline, I've read that originally John Carpenter was planning on doing different storylines and that they only went back to Michael after they saw how the 3rd movie was received. I think it's on IMDB somewhere.
