Here's a tutorial on how to unregister. Then you can decide when you want to register again or not. I've done it. Will be holding off for several months so bugs can be worked out.

Windows 10 Forum

I keep getting pop-ups inviting me to download Windows 10. I have resisted so far because i have just bought a new laptop with windows 8, and its very new and refreshing for me since using Vista for several years before that. I'm more than happy with version 8 for now.

uninstall Windows Update KB3035583

Didn't work in my case. I uninstalled every damn update that had to do with 10. Had to reboot. 10 installed anyhow. Now I'm royally pissed. It also screwed up my display. A quarter of the Taskbar shows. Any icon close to the edge of the screen is now a third of the icon OFF the screen. Can't run my browser full screen, if I do, the top of the browser is off screen. Can't see the minimize, maximize or close browser buttons. Menu bar is off screen too.

I updated the video card drivers. No change. I uninstalled the video card and rebooted. Screen came up and looked like it should. That lasted for 5 seconds, then it reverted back. No option to "Roll back driver", that's greyed out. I changed screen resolution from 1920x1084 (Recommended) to 1280x720. No change.

And Bill Gates can suck my dick and kiss my ass (not on the right, not on the left, butt in the groove).

You also gotta remove / change some registry files linked to the Windows 10 icon.

If you are running win7/win8/8.1, upgrading to 10 is a pain. Most people don't realize it's not simply an upgrade and it gives false hope on the "ease" of it. It's not like an OSX/iOS update. It's a completely new OS. More than likely software and drivers will need to be updated/upgraded as the update with break them. If you do a clean install, the outcome should be better.
