people in a coma can feel pain. your receptors still work.

The receptors still work, but a person in a coma probably doesn't register the pain and, therefore, doesn't 'feel' it any more than you feel pain when you're asleep. The pain is still there. You're just not aware of it. It's doubtful that Zsa Zsa is feeling any pain.

Well, God bless her...

She lived a life of luxury and privilege with - lets face it- no discernible talent except her good looks.

We should all be so lucky.

94 years is a good run.

Re: Zsa Zsa Gabor

my mother has stated that she would have the plug pulled long before she would get to Zsa Zsa's state.
I can't blame her for that, I'd want a death with dignity too.

Re: Zsa Zsa Gabor

"She got into a little coma," her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt told CNN. "She doesn't respond," he added, despite doctors' efforts.

It is illegal in almost all of the US, with the exception of Oregon, and I think that you have to be terminally ill there...so I don't know if this would apply. I had a friend who died last year at 101...it was horrible seeing what she went though...she had to watch her body fall apart...loosing her eye sight, ability to go to the bathroom, she had trouble eating, dementia, etc. Religion really gets in the way of being humane sometimes.

Yes... Not to derail this thread - but, we treat our dogs and cats more humanely than we do human beings.

If you bring your cat or dog into the vet's with a terminal illness, they are given a shot and they painlessly slip away.

But, because of the "sanctity" of human life, that's not an option for us. We are made to lay there and suffer - often for years - and often in pain and humiliation - until we die of natural causes.

What possible sense does that make ?

But - back to topic....
