‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Dies

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

Randy's passing is a huge loss for the academic community--

Dr. Pausch's talent & awesome creativity in the ever blossoming field of human-computer interaction will be difficult to replace..........in May 2008 Time magazine named Randy as one of the World's Top-100 Most Influential People..........

As a side-note to eM's posting the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania City Council declared November 19, 2007 as "Dr. Randy Pausch Day"..........

What a fighter and admirable human being.

It reminds me once again of Shaun.

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

Twenty-four hours ago I had no idea who this guy was, and I'm not even convinced I had ever heard of him.

Somebody sent me a video link to his Last Lecture, and I had to watch the whole thing - yes an hour and a quarter long. Basically the length of watching some movies, which is something I RARELY have time to do at home. He was totally enthralling and eloquent in this video. Man, what a class act.

Journey's: Professor Randy Pausch: Last Lecture

How To Lead Your Life The Right Way

Sill gave me the best piece of advice that I ever heard…

“It took me a long time but I finally figured it out. When it comes to men that are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple, just ignore everything they say and pay attention to everything they do. It’s that simple. It’s that easy.”

Brick walls show our dedication.

That is so true....and how one deals with brick walls...is something that one can learn from and also tells a lot about a person.

-Be good at something. it makes you valuable
-Work hard
-Find the best in everybody; no matter how you have to wait for them to show it
-Be prepared: luck is where preparation meets opportunity

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

just finished watching...

Wow....very touching...

I have never seen a dedication of a memorial prior to the death of the person it is named after before. But I do love the memorial plans.

A very impressive human being!

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

Sad!

Dr. Pausch made me realize that ALL our days are numbered and being that they are finite; we should live each one like it's our last!

Sitting/lieing around feeling sorry for one's self is NOT mentally good for you and will leave you listless and alone because NOone wants to feel "down" like people who live their lives in fear........fear of the unknown......fear of death, or fear period!

I think by losing Professor Pausch we learned to LIVE!

He taught us to be alive; NOT to whine; but to keep on trying; in spite of the odds against your succeeding!

God Bless and RIP!(*8*)

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

We had to watch his speech on Oprah for Human Development class in March. His speech was very inspirational. I knew he had a few months to live, but you didn't feel that. His spirit was so energetic and positive, that you felt he had more years. Rest in peace! :)

Re: ‘Last Lecture’ Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Die

He was supposed to be the plenary speaker at a conference I attended earlier this year. He didn't speak, but the reasons given were conflicting; some people claimed he was testifying to a congressional committee about medical funding; others said he was simply too sick. Anyway, he was one of the great teachers and an inspiration to many.
