I've gotten totally hooked on 1 Girl 5 Gays and I was curious if anyone here watched it. For those of you who don't know, the premise is basically a talk show like The View but with less squawking old hens.(Simmer down, I love The View) The first couple of episodes they just conversed or commented on bad dating stories but now they play a game of 20 Questions with the questions usually being about love and sex. Here's something to dip your toes in....

I know they also do a blog, which i don't follow, as well as upload episodes online.
You can find both of those by following the link below.

Sorry to hijack but the title totally reminded me of a GTA San Andreas commercial.

I just think it's awesome that it showcases the opinions of sporatic gay man whether they are flamboyant or not, in all different cases and contexts. Not to mention some of them actually have really intelligent views...now on the complete flipside of intelligent.....

That made me laugh so hard just now, haha. "I'm an emotionally abused orphan, can't i get in on any of these hugs?" "No you stupid bitch!"

I really liked the 2 full episodes that i could find on youtube. People will prolly bitch b/c none of the guys are super butch. But I like them. I just can't stand bitchy feminine guys. And they're not. Like a lot of Canadians Ive met, they are really sweet and accepting. I wish they had this show here. But I feel like an american panel might ruin it.

^I dont think they are all flamboyant. None of them are super "straight-acting" but they are not all flamboyant. People need to get over their insecurities and stop picking on flamboyant guys. Yes all gays guys are not feminine but a lot are. And they are the ones that go into situations and are up front and honest about who and what they are. The "straight-acting" guys are prolly to cowardly to appear on a show where the world knows they are gay.

I've only seen 2 full episodes and all the guys were not flamboyant. If you have a problem with flamboyant guys maybe those are the ones who stand out to you. MTV is the last network to try to stereotype gays. MTV has been groundbreaking in giving a voice and face to gays way before anyone else has.

Ive worked at casting sessions before. When they have castings like this more flamboyant guys come to audition because they are the ones who have the less hangups about their sexuality. They have less of an issue with being labeled to the world as gay. Much fewer of the straight acting guys who you want to see come to auditions because they dont want to be seen as gay or they are in the closet.

Thx for sharing your perspective! That makes sense. I've never seen a full ep but I may now.

My partner and I watch the show pretty regularly. At first the guys were annoying but now I find their discussion to be very interesting. Yes the topics are very surface-level but lately with their 20 questions format there are a couple of thought-provoking discussions. There are no other shows that offer real discussion from real people. I like it. My only concern is that the gays are also city-type, dare i say, urban hipsters. I have not seen any suburban gays on it yet.

^Yea i agree. 4 out of the 5 are typically gay hipsters. But that might be a convenience casting thing too. It doesnt seem like they put too much money into it.They're just sitting in a circle in a room. It seems like they just have the panel drop by after work.
