As someone that doesn’t like labels it seems like bullshit. On the other hand humans love to label things so I get it, but I still don’t agree. What do you think?

http://www.bitheway.co.uk/2008/05/28/13-types-of-bisexual/

Did you know there are 13 different types of bisexuality?

No? Neither did I, but apparently there are 13 ways to pigeon-hole us. According to J.R. Little bisexuals can be categorised in terms of their sexual desires and experiences and include:

Alternating Bisexuals - one relationship at a time, the first might be exclusively straight, the next exclusively gay and vice versa. Alternating Bisexuals are usually monogamous.

Circumstantial Bisexuals - primarily heterosexual but bisexual because of circumstances, eg; Prison where there are no women/men available.

Concurrent relationship Bisexuals - have a primary relationship with one gender, but may have multiple casual relationships with partners of the other gender.

Conditional Bisexuals - will switch sexuality for personal gain, eg: Gay for Pay.

Emotional Bisexuals - have intimate emotional relationships with both genders but only have sex with one gender.

Integrated Bisexuals - have two or more concurrent primary relationships one with a man one with a woman

Exploratory Bisexuals - testing the water seeing if they like it.

Hedonistic Bisexuals -primarily straight or gay/lesbian but will switch purely for sexual pleasure.

Recreational Bisexuals - bi only when drunk or high. “Party Bisexual”

Isolated Bisexuals - currently straight or gay/lesbian - but has had one off sexual encounter in the past which qualifies them as bisexual.

Latent Bisexuals - has strong yet so far unsatisfied urges to go the other way.

Motivational Bisexuals - will go bi to satisfy a partner, e.g. straight women agreeing to MFF threesome.

Transitional Bisexuals - the only type of bisexuality the gay community understands, the one “going through a phrase”.

Least that’s bisexuality according to J. R. Little. I’m going to mess the theory up in typical bisexual fashion by refusing to fit neatly into any of those 13 categories. In fact I’d have to describe myself as Latent-Alternating because my gay sexual exploration is incomplete and I swing between attraction to men and women yet would never want a poly-relationship.

What a surprise! Another bisexual fence-sitter!

It's interesting, but I don't fit in there either.

What I am is the one who has emotional relationships only with one gender but responds sexually to both - where's that one on the list?

How does one "go through a phrase"?

Is it anything like going through a "phase"?

Until someone can learn the difference between a phrase and a phase I would not put much time into considering his/her thoughts. He/she just might phase things improperly, and for any of you who have watched enough Star Trek episodes, you know there is BIG trouble when things are out of phase (improperly phased)!

What's a typo between friends? Something for some of us Anal Retentive folks to try and help budding authors with, that's what!

It's an interesting, if semi-nonsensical attempt to categorize.

I tend to look at sexuality as being one more thing in nature that intrinsically follows the standard bell curve in standard deviation -- From uber masculine, heterosexual, or homophobic at one end of different charts to ultra feminine, homosexual, or femme (no, it's not the same as feminine) at the other ends.

Please note that I said Different Charts. Masculinity/Feminity, Sexual Orientation, and posturing are discreet elements to an individual.

Given that we have two basic sexes, we need to plot people on two different charts, or expect two, skewed, bells for each trait.

The Bell Curve, Avogadro's number aka the 80:20 rule, are empirical evidence of what is Normal vs "the Norm" in nature.

In a large enough population, it is Normal to have members distributed under the whole gamut of the bell curve, in statistically repeating percentages. The Norm is for 66-68% to fall within +/- 1 Sigma, or standard deviation, of the apex of the bell, and 99.97% to fall within +/- 3Sigma. That leaves a tiny few for whom it is Normal to be at the far extremes.

This simply means that, while "the Norm" (+/- 1Sigma) may be heterosexual, somewhat sensitive to others, it is NORMAL to have 10% of the population view themselves as Homosexual and another 10%, possibly more, view themselves as Bisexual in one form or another. It is also normal to see that percentage of increasingly rigid phobic people.

Now, as to Star Trek and being out of phase --- I do seem to recall The good Captain Kirk or one of the other main characters floating around in out of sync space while the others couldn't see them. Then there was the slow down and hyper speed up episode where one group was almost statuesque while the others sounded like bees in their ears. Don't get cellular damage, like a cut, while in hyper drive - you might age and die in less than the blink of an eye!

Only 3 years in production, and 40 in reruns. And we still tune in to watch them all over again. Are we Trekkies, or what?!

You forgot about all the spinoffs, i.e. TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise.

If you add all the episodes together, its amazing they didn't have more troube with Tribbles! :rotflmao:

And isn't amazing how none of the crew (characters - not actors) was openly gay/bi/les. Unless you want to consider Dax as possibly bi. The trill did end up in varying male/female bodies throughout.

Ah, yes, the cute, adorable Tribbles.

I didn't forget the rest of the Star Trek world, I just figured I'd already co-opted more than my fair share of Thynight's story thread.

I'm not surprised re: no openly gay crew members - Star Trek, while leading the social battle on many fronts, was a product of the 60's thru 80's, and Aaron Spelling's imagination/generation. It was also a "military" vessel by and large. Will and Grace, Ellen, came along a lot later.

The original was pretty blatantly sexist - it would never have passed muster in the later PC era. Shatner has been playing a pig for 40 years -- look at Boston Legal -- he loves it, has a great time playing the ass. Candace Bergen is a great foil for him. They partnered in Miss Congeniality with him dissing the Gay community in a farcial romp.

If you're an equal opportunity picker onner, and don't mind sexist jokes, it was hilarious. If you're more incensed at it, you wouldn't appreciate it at all.

I don't have any heat in my picking, and I pick on myself as much as anyone, so I can enjoy a wide variety of humour. I do have some standards, however.

This is quite confusing but definitely interesting.

LOOL

that's very interesting...

I didn't see anything in there that describes my situation. I love woman and can connect with them emotionally. I like looking at women, whether clothed or naked. I also like to have sex with women. All the above includes transexual women as well.

I love having sex with men. The best sex is having a cock in me, whether I'm sucking it or getting fucked or jerking it. I love the feel of a cock in me or on me or against me. In fact I would rather have sex with a guy than with a woman. I love looking at men's naked bodies especially when the guy is musclular and hairless. I have no emotional connection to men though. For me it's sex only.

You aren't bi - just horny as hell.

Well, as much as I chafe at labeling, at least I fell into a category I can respect.

Hedonistic bisexuals unite! If it feels good... go for it.
