14 Dead in Colorado "Dark Knight" Theater Shooting

If just one skinny, solitary student can kill twelve people, how much more effective would these self-confident, publicity-seeking young men and women from Louisiana be?

i can play that game too

KW makes a good point with that pic that I never considered until I saw it. Had this guy just happened to be ethnically from anywhere from Turkey eastwards, never mind if he was Muslim or not, Fox would be throwing the word 'terrorist' around about every two minutes just like they did with that shooting at the Fort (forget its name)

A slightly off topic question if I may....

Why were children as young as 6 being allowed in for this movie? Was there not an age limit rating?

(don't know how it works in America, but the U.K. ratings are U, PG, 12, 15, 18)

So is Dark Knight Rises a PG? (Parental Guidance) I thought it would be a 12.

Even before the rating, I was wondering what people were doing in there with toddlers and kids at a midnight screening for a violent action flick. One interview featured a couple who had their 4-month old. Under normal circumstances this is where I would rant about rude fucks bringing babies to late night adult movies.

do people STILL think he's crazy and can't be held accountable for his actions when he planned this out for months?

Re: 14 Dead in Colorado "Dark Knight" Theater Shooting

I too was very irritated by people bringing infants into the theater.

I don't get it.

Won't the noise itself damage their development? Hell wouldn't it just scare them?

he may be crazy but it would be hard as hell to prove it in court if he was fully aware of what he was doing in which he was. a crazy guy doesn't go to three different gun stores to buy three different guns three months of each in order to go to a movie opening to shoot it up. that sounds like a well orchestrated hit that was done to hurt as much people as possible. i think people feel that he's crazy because there's no exact reason to explain why he did what he did and that he's a school dropout. but i honestly think that this guy may probably have wanted the attention and probably was annoyed with not being treated a certain way or whatever. i DOUBT that he's crazy though. the guy from arizona seems more believable.

You watch too much tv. You think in order to be deranged someone must walk around wearing their shoes on their hands, their underwear over their pants, speaking in gibberish and eating fists full of trash out of the dumpster and falling asleep in cow pastures.

To call that level of (mis)understanding of human behavior and psychology elementary would be a compliment.

You DOUBT hes crazy? Thats based on, what, your PhD in psych? watching a few episodes of CSI! this is whats wrong with our court system its full of pretentious know-nothing asshats who would rather govern by emotion than anything else. Youre fake as fuck, insisting on things you know NOTHING about.

Yes. I have vivid memories of torture and a stabbing murder I witnessed in the blackness of a cinema. I have since worked out that the two violent films that my parents took me to were when I was just five years old.

I asked her about it recently and she said something along the lines about raising kids isn't easy. :(

Police: Colo. suspect planned massacre for months - Yahoo! News

even the authorities aren't buying the whole "insanity" excuse.

Its rated PG-13 which is what STUDIOS want as it maximizes their earnings and profits. A higher rating bars too many ticket buyers.

PG-13 in the USA is only an advisory to parents that they be aware that something isn't all Disney "Pinocchio" about the film. It doesn't bar anyone from taking their kid.

And, of course, it means zippo when the target audience is generally males 13-15 yrs of age (as are Batman movies and such).

And this movie had the PG-13 warning not even for its violence but because something in it seemed a bit "sensual" to those slapping on the nothing rating.

As for why babies and really little kids (a 6-year among the dead) are even there for an after-midnight showing?

CHEAPER THAN HIRING A BABYSITTER.

If one can even find a babysitter in today's world in isolated America.

That's another set of social problems and surely one affecting places like Aurora, CO in a big way as its full of young parents, transplanted single moms and their "boyfriends", and lower-income workers.

So they want to see the cool-people after-midnight showing but have the kids in tow. Again, another social and economic problem which affects the family and, of course, the children of America.

I missed it the first read-through, but it was a midnight show. Why in hell do parents take little children to a midnight show? Whatever happened to babysitters?

Well, that answers my question. Thanks.

In all seriousness, it's not even an answer I had given consideration.

I've read the US movie ratings system. Of the five ratings, there is only one rating which prevents children from watching a movie:

G — General Audiences. All Ages Admitted.

PG — Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children.

PG-13 — Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13.

R — Restricted. Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.

NC-17 — No One 17 and Under Admitted.

I have a question with this story.
Why were kids allow to watch this adult movie ?

Read the rest of this thread. If you don't want to read the whole thing, just look up 2 posts to #129. It's all explained why kids are allowed to be there.

because those two parents are IDIOTS. that's why.

LOL @ Batman being 'adult'. Scenes of terror/violence. That's about it. I would be more upset if parents took their kids to Savages (which was brutally violent/sexual). The only 'problem' I see taking kids to Batman, in this case, is the time of night.
