So I went to CL and entered all the ages from 18 to 66 and above (there were no posts above 66). And here is what I got - see the image.

My analisys ?
I dunno.. I thought that gay life stops at 30. Well no, it doesn't ... Some say that gay life stops at 40. Well, no. It still doesn't.

I guess it stops at 66.

But you may say it takes a big dunk at 40 if you look at this particular graph.
What I am really surprized about is that there are MUCH more ads in 30-40 bracket than there are in 20-30 bracket. I thought that 20-30 bracket will be the toppest of the tops.

Also, before I thought that 18-24 or so are the horniest of the bunch. Well, I'm not so sure now. But I see that a lot of them are very picky. Reading their ads I see things like "be slim, hot and of this type and under 23 only". Those who 30+ and 40+ are still picky, but less so than the earlier ages. Mostly d&d free pickiness and a few things like be masculine, etc. 50+ probably don't care anymore. Well, they do, also mostly about being d&d free. I haven't done full research on pickiness, but going with my gut feeling here after reading a few posts here and there from some age brackets.

I was getting scared here that I am missing out on sex and that my sex life is about to end.. well oof I guess I can breath for a bit while longer here.

Oh, and another thing -- nothing ever happens on CraigsList. It's all talk. (from my own personal full 1-month 'under pressure' immersion into CL about a year ago). Your results may vary. You do meet some people, but O.M.F.G. how much chaff&BS you have to go through and how long you have to wait.

Well, consider that the older generations are still new about online and the computer.

good observation. as one of those i can agree with that. i have only been using a computer for four years now - i hope that counts.](*,)

Guys, I'm just being honest.

Thats why their is a huge myspace scare right now. Parents think everyone wants to fuck their teenage daughter online, which is not the case. the case is that their daughter is a whore who seeks older male attention because she lacked a good father figure.

well...maybe not that far. haha

May I also point out that gay men are really fucking picky on craigslist.

people need to get over themselves.

not everyone is a muscle stud.

I never expect more than what I can offer, I wish the world was the same.

The 20-30 set don't have to resort to CL to get laid. The reason the peaks are at 35 and 40 is that that's the comaximum for difficulty of getting laid and for horniness. (Let's call that combined variable "desperation.")

After 40, it continues to get harder to get laid, but the increase is slower. But also, you can do without sex (or even masturbation) for longer and longer periods, so the desperation factor drops steadily.

daughters ? well, as long as the sons are free to roam...

HA ! Care to estimate it below 18 ?
My guess is that it will be quite low, but not non-existent.
See my 4rd-order smoothed graph attached ...

my comment on sex stopping at 66 was half-joking. There are factors here that are not considered. Like do people over that age use computers. And other factors, like how many posters post more than once, and how many posters remove their ad after a certain number of days.

It might be true that the 20-30 group finds partners for sex more in real life than online, and the 30-40 group does more searching online. As for the "older generation" being less active online, or with computers in general; I think that mostly pertains to people already retired. I don't know of any work environment where you don't use computers today.

In addition, I don't think anyone is actually representing their true self on Craigslist or any other "hook up" site out there. It's a fantasy world where people can appear to be who they might like to be in real life.

I've been using desktop computers since 1982, when "hard disks" were unknown and everyone had to use 5 1/4-inch floppies.

Internet connection happened for me later than most people I know: I'm not actually sure of the year, but I'm pretty sure it was before 1990.

OTOH, I have never put an ad on CL. Perhaps this is because I know the internet isn't magic (sorry, Kulindahr), and won't get me what I want just for the asking.

That said, I met my current BF online, though not through a personals site.

oooh you have to know where to look I suppose. I think that 66+ stop looking at general-purpose sites and go into more specialized areas. This makes sence, and they probably get more action there too.

Good observations on 20-30, Criostoir -- this age group gets it in bars.

Those under 18 though, do not have an outlet, so I wonder where they get it, if get it at all. I think that is probably the age of experimental encounters. Logically, one can expect a huge jump at 18 as they are finally free to go and do what they want, but there is no such jump exhibited ... I wonder why.

I think that peak in the latter thirties is just the panick that hits when you first realize your sex drive is and has been diminishing. I'm not sure there is much sex after 28 for most guys. How old are you anyways? I wouldn't leave it to long.

You might also want to shift the entire graph a bit to the right.

Don't you think a lot of the guys (over 30 and over 40) might be lying about their ages?

That's kind of what I meant to say. lol

I'm 28. And you scare me.

Why 28 anyways ?

Sorry, I'm just overgeneralizing from my own personal experience. YMMV. Forget I said anything. I'm just feeling a little tired and cranky.

You also have to keep in mind that a lot of guys in their 20s (especially early 20s) are still fairly idealistic. A lot of them are looking for boyfriends and many are waiting for their prince to come. They haven't yet become jaded old queens settling for just sex. Those ones would never go to craigslist to look for sex because that's not what they're (nominally) after. In general, the older somebody gets the less they care what others think about them and the more in tune they are with their needs and desires.
