Welcome to JUB! And congratulations on coming out! :)

I personally don't know of any good books, but you might want to look over at our sister site: emptyclosets.com, which is mainly geared towards teenagers. Not because "you're too young" but because they have several sticky posts dealing with precisely the kind of book you're looking for - talking about being gay with your parents.

Also, feel free to share any question they might give you. We might be able to help you out with some answers. :)

Do you have a local chapter of P-FLAG that would be a good start they can realy help them out with more imfo

Hey mate... Welcome to JUB and thanks for posting such an awesome first post! Congratulations on your amazing step and on having some pretty incredible freinds and parents!

Panda is right... PFLAG is probably a good start - even on the net and website they have some great info.

The big thing is though as you learn more about yourself and what you like and what this means for you dont be afraid to share (what you can!) with your parents... Its a journey that no one really knows the destination until you get there, so along the way you'll figure things out. Sharing some of those things along the way will let your parents know that you are safe and most of all happy... and thats all your parents will ever want for you!

Congratulations on your coming out!!!
I might suggest these books:
"Loving Someone Gay"
"Now That You Know"
Both of these books are very positive and geared towards parents of children who are gay. Talks about how to handle it all. PFLAG is another good thing that I'd highly recommend (if your parent's are up to that).
Another book, "Prayers for Bobby" is also good. Finally, you might also want to hunt down a copy of "What the Bible REALLY has to say about Homosexuality" This is a very good book and discusses how parts of the Bible have been mistranslated/misinterpreted due to mistranslations of certain words.
Hope these suggestions help.
Best of luck to you and your family. I am so glad that it seems you are surrounded by love and people who are accepting and now know just a little bit more about you. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

What a great way to make your first post. Welcome aboard to JUB! Hope you enjoy it here.

Congratulations on coming out! Keep in touch with us and let us know how it's going.

Congrats!!! Good for you! Be strong, be brave!

I don't have much advice for the parents - I basically told both of mine to deal with it, didn't get any books, but other areas advice: the more gay friends, the better! Make gay friends.

Well done for getting this step out of the way whilst still young. It is a lot easier these days but still a daunting step. You have saved yourself a lot of grief later in life. If I had a hat I would take it off to your parents for dealing with it the way they have. They are bound to have questions and probably to make sure that you are sure of what you are doing and the potential consequences as they see them. Any responsible parent would do that, thank them for their concern.

So thanks for posting this, it will be a great encouragement to those who are considering coming out. (*8*)

Congratulations!

Several people have mentioned PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). This is the link to their website: http://community.pflag.org. If you are interested in finding resources on religion and homosexuality, the following may help. Other sheep, http://www.othersheep.org/, is an international multicultural ministry wit sexual minorities and they have resources on their website. Gay Church, http://www.gaychurch.org/, has a directory of gay-friendly churches around the world, resources and books for sale. Metropolitan Community Church, http://www.mccchurch.org/, is an international denomination serving the GLBT community. It has a directory of its churches and some resources for download.

As a matter of disclosure, I’ve been working with MCC for some 20 years and I also know the Rev. Dr. Tom Hanks, Executive Director of Other Sheep.
